Abstract:Based on the literature review, this paper proposes the mechanism model of the influences the paternalistic leadership makes on the management innovation. By taking 301 enterprises as samples in Shunde Region of Guangdong Province, an empirical study on the model is conducted. The results show that, the negative effect of authoritarian leadership impacts on the management innovation is totally mediated by the psychological empowerment. However, with the introduction of the benevolence leadership and the moral leadership, its negative effect on the psychological empowerment becomes weaker or even not significant. Benevolent leadership not only positive influence the management innovation directly, but also influences the management innovation by the psychological empowerment’s partial mediating effect. Moral leadership has positive effect on the management innovation through the psychological empowerment’s full mediating effect. However, with the introduction of the authoritarian leadership and the benevolence leadership, its negative effect on the psychological empowerment becomes greatly weaker or even not significant.
