| The incidence of retraction of publication seems to be increasing in medical journals. The aim of this study is to find out the main reasons leading to retraction by investigating the domestic and abroad retractions. Based on the investigation of the principles and practice guidelines, a retraction protocol suitable for China is proposed and the roles that journals and their editors play is suggested. |
