In 1980’s,the famous translator and scholar Bassnett proposes a new translation theory,namely cultural translation the ory,in which Bassnett insists that culture should be taken as the basic unit of translation,which attracts the attentions all over the world.In the thesis,the translation of Ren,one of the main ideas of Confucianism,will be discussed from the perspective of Bassnett’s cultural translation theory.Ren,the essence of The Analects,also the symbol of Chinese traditional culture,is endowed with profound connotation and important status.There are more and more translations of Ren in contemporary era.After com paring different kinds of translation and cultural translation theory,the most proper way of doing it may be transliterating it to Ren. 相似文献

Inhabited by women with male characteristics and men possessing female features, the Dunnet Landing in Sarah Orne Jewett’s masterpiece The Country of the Pointed Firs is depicted as a harmonious land of beauty, from which Jewett’s preference of androgyny is fully expressed. In this novel, androgyny is used as a means by Jewett to achieve her feministic idea of the equality between men and women and that neither of the sex has prejudice upon the other in this combination. Through a detailed textual analysis, this paper reveals the androgyny elements in this novel and discusses about the possibility of androgyny as a way out for feminism. 相似文献

Movie is a popular art which occupies an important position in people’s leisure time. Movie title,as the most direct and accessible tool for audience to know about the movie,is very significant to attract audience into the cinema. Therefore,the translation of movie title cannot be ignored. However,due to the cultural differences in Chinese and English culture,the problem of movie title translation is obvious which needs to be paid attention to the translation and people working in movie industry.Traditional translation theory puts more emphasis on the important and authoritative status of original text and author. But this notion cannot satisfy the needs of movie title translation to the largest extent. Movie is not only a cultural and linguistic product,it also is a special commercial product. The ultimate objective of movie is to allure the audience into the cinema to watch and appreciate it in addition to provide the cultural information. Reception aesthetics,as a theory of literary criticism,gives priority to readers’ role in literary understanding and interpretation. According to reception aesthetics,the horizon of expectation should be taken into consideration when the translation work begins to be done. Horizon of expectation is composed of the readers’ or audiences’ previous cultural norms,assumptions,and criteria in the source language and culture at a given time. Movie title,as a special text,is also understood and influenced by the audience’s horizon of expectation. Chinese audience,before they decide to watch a movie,are naturally harbor their horizon of expectation about the movie. They will form their judgment and assumptions about the genre,plot,story,background about the movie from the movie title. These kind of horizon of expectation will consequently influence their ultimate decision to watch the movie or not. Hence,in doing the movie title translation,the translator is supposed to keep the audience’s horizon of expectation in mind and try his utmost to achieve the fusion of expectation. In this way,the comparatively satisfactory version is likely to come into being and finally will live up to the audience’s expectations. As a result,from the perspective of reception aesthetics,the author proposes three feasible translation methods of movie title: literal translation,free translation and adaptation. 相似文献

Experiments were conducted in a U-shaped open-channel flume with the intention of investigating the bursting phenomena in the meander channel. The experimental results of the secondary flow fields and the Reynolds shear stress distributions show that the velocity and velocity fluctuation in the transverse direction are not negligible. Moreover, the bursting process is investigated using the three-dimensional quadrant analysis, which is more accurate than using the traditional two-dimensional quadrant analysis for the meandering channel. It is obtained from the experimental results that the internal group of events occurs more frequently than the external group, particularly the internal ejection and internal sweep events. In addition, the transition probabilities of the movements, which are defined as the changes of events from the current situation to the next situation in a time series, show that the stable organizations of events are the most possible movements, whereas the cross organizations of events have the least possible movements. 相似文献

It is found in the study that there is a big difference concerning the overall frequency of Do with Hong Kong students using much more DO in their writings than native speakers.Besides,Hong Kong university students tend to overuse the verbal operator DO,which is contrary to Qi Yan’s study(2006).At the same time,they also misuse Do;When Do is used as de-lexical verb,Hong Kong students share the same characteristics with the study of Fu zhuqin(2006),that is,they allow more freedom to collocate with more Nouns,some of which are inappropriate collocates in native English.The potential reasons for these problems might be illustrated as overgeneralization,mother-tongue interference,and lack of vocabulary etc.Based on the findings,the paper presents two pedagogical implications about vocabulary teaching and learning:the content of vocabulary teaching should be extended and enriched,and the corpus-based vocabulary teaching methodology should be integrated into class practices. 相似文献
