This article concerns the purpose, function, and mechanisms of students’ rhythmic behaviors as they solve embodied-interaction problems, specifically problems that require assimilating quantitative information structures embedded into the environment. Analyzing multimodal data of one student tackling a bimanual interaction design for proportion, we observed the (1) evolution of coordinated movements with stable temporal–spatial qualities; (2) breakdown of this proto-rhythmic form when it failed to generalize across the problem space; (3) utilization of available resources to obtain greater specificity by way of measuring spatial spans of movements; (4) determination of an arithmetic pattern governing the sequence of spatial spans; and (5) creation of a meta-rhythmic form that reconciles continuous movement with the arithmetic pattern. The latter reconciliation selectively retired, modified, and recombined features of her previous form. Rhythmic enactment, even where it is not functionally imperative, appears to constitute a tacit adaptation goal. Its breakdown reveals latent phenomenal properties of the environment, creating opportunities for quantitative reasoning, ultimately supporting the learning of curricular content.  相似文献

Learning environment on mathematics for autistic children is a prototype of a digital environment with dynamic adaptation features designed to offer activities towards the development of mathematical reasoning in children aged 6–12 years, diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by deficits in social communication and social interaction as well as restricted and repetitive patterns of behaviour, interests or activities. This paper, with a primarily conceptual and analytical scope, discusses the mathematical difficulties that some children with ASD have, and presents strategies that can be used to overcome them. Based on a literature review and on the results of a preliminary study already conducted, we present results concerning the proposal of a set of learning activities for the prototype under development, specifically targeted to promote mathematical reasoning in students with ASD. The study focused on the interaction between two secondary school students while they were working on computerized mathematical investigation tasks related to probability theory. The aim was to establish how such interaction helped the students to learn from one another, and how it may have hindered their learning process. The assumption was that interaction is beneficial for students if they can perform certain key activities, namely showing, explaining, justifying, and reconstructing their work. Both students attained mathematical level raising. However, the student who explained frequently and criticized himself attained more mathematical level raising than the student who did not explain her work frequently or criticize herself.  相似文献

The approach to routines presented in this paper refers to the phenomenology of Schütz, to symbolic interactionism and in particular to ethonomethodology: The interest is focussed on teachers’ and students’ routines making them establish the common classroom discourse. Routines important in the mathematics classroom — but presumably in other subjects too — are presented. The discussion shows that they have positive functions for the interaction process as well as partly negative consequences for the learning of mathematics.  相似文献

学习者个体发展与学习环境演化之间存在着相互影响,相互制约的关系。为了分析这种复杂的关系,首先借助元胞自动机理论构造出了一种用于模拟学习环境演化的数学模型,然后在统计学的角度通过大量实验探讨了初始状态下学习者良好率、演化过程中的交互程度以及不同性质学习者分布情况等因素对学习环境演化的影响。实验所揭示的规律可以为学习环境的选择,学习环境的优化等教育实践活动提供一定的参考意义。  相似文献

This paper reports a design-based research (DBR) cycle of MyCLOUD (My Chinese ubiquitOUs learning Days). MyCLOUD is a seamless language learning model that addresses identified limitations of conventional Chinese language teaching, such as the decontextualized and unauthentic learning processes that usually hinder reflection and deep learning. MyCLOUD focuses on developing new learning practices among students who traverse the in-school and out-of-school learning spaces, in the hope of bridging the formal and informal aspects of language learning. This paper focuses on two stages of DBR across 13 months and traces students’ artifact creations and social interactions facilitated by the design and re-design of the learning environment. The findings indicate that the students’ participation rates and the qualities of their artifacts and online interactions were significantly improved towards the second stage of the intervention. The key implication from the DBR cycle is that the teachers need to plan and enact enculturation activities to systematically promote the motivation and qualities of artifact creations and online interactions. “Facets” of artifact creation and online interaction skills are distilled to guide the enculturation design as a result.  相似文献

目的 了解三年制高职学生学习风格,为学习任务分析和教学策略制定提供依据.方法 采用Felder学习风格问卷,对我院2007级三年制高职学生进行自填式问卷调查.结果 经Quick Cluster和Hierarchical Cluster分析,我院2007级2075名三年制高职学生学习风格相当一致,有63.33%的学生以积极主动型、感觉型和视觉型为主体学习风格.结论 喜欢通过一些活动和尝试来学习的学生多于通过思考来学习的学生;倾向于学习事实性内容的学生多于喜欢发现事物的发展可能性及相互关系的学生;善于通过情境记忆的学生多于通过口头语言来记忆的学生.  相似文献

In a WWW-based virtual learning environment where students and teachers are physically separated, the quantity and quality of interaction among students and with instructors affects learning. Lack of constructive activity is often identified as one of the major causes for poor learning. We developed support tools (prompts which support students to use self-explanation and self-monitoring strategies) and studied how support tools facilitate convergent knowledge building processes in a WWW-based virtual university engineering course. A quasi-experimental study was designed. An engineering class of a virtual university was selected as the research site and the students in the class were randomly assigned to two different work environments: (1) without support tools, and (2) with support tools. This study has an implication for theory that the opportunity to engage in interaction itself is not enough for students to either integrate knowledge or develop/improve the coordination of group work in an online learning environment. Frequent interaction with their peers is not enough either for students to integrate knowledge or develop/improve coordination of group work in an online learning environment. The type of interaction matters, especially because convergent type of interaction facilitates students' knowledge integration.  相似文献

The analysis of the Batteries and AIDS episodes presented in this article is guided by the assumption that thinking can be conceptualized as an activity of communication, and learning can be regarded as modifying and extending one's discursive ways. Within this framework, 1 of the aims of mathematical learning is to become skillful in the discursive use of designated symbolic artifacts supposed to mediate solving certain types of problems. My analysis of the learning episodes is aimed at uncovering the ways in which the discursive uses of such new symbolic tools were interactively constructed by the students. I argue that the construction process is extremely complex because of a certain inherent circularity of this process. The analysis reveals that this difficulty may be overcome by the gradual dialectic adjustment of former discursive habits to new contexts. The adjustment happens gradually, through cycles of intimations about the applicability of the old habits followed by implementations in which this applicability is examined. This intricate interplay of intimations and implementations is found in both the Batteries and the AIDS episodes and is presented in detail in the article. I also show that, with time, students significantly increased their mastery of this particular discursive mechanism.  相似文献

In this study, we examine the impact and the interplay of general giftedness (G) and excellence in mathematics (EM) on high school students’ mathematical performance associated with translations from graphical to symbolic representations of functions, as reflected in cortical electrical activity (by means of ERP—event-related potentials—methodology). We report on findings of comparative data analysis based on 75 right-handed male high school students (16?–?18 years old) divided into four research groups designed by a combination of EM and G factors. Effects of EM factor appeared at the behavioral and electrophysiological levels. The fifth group of participants included 9 students with extraordinary mathematical abilities (S-MG: super mathematically gifted). We found that in EM participants, the G factor has no impact on the performance associated with translation between representations of the functions. The highest overall electrical activity is found in excelling in mathematics students who are not identified as generally gifted (NG-EM students). This increased electrical activity can be an indicator of increased cognitive load in this group of students. We identified accumulative and unique characteristics of S-MG at the behavioral and electrophysiological levels. We explain the findings by the nature of the tasks used in the study. We argue that a combination of the ERP techniques along with more traditional educational research methods enables obtaining reliable measures on the mental processing involved in learning mathematics and mathematical problem solving.  相似文献

师生交流是影响高校学生学习和社会化的重要因素。良好的师生关系有助于学生更好地参与学习生活。当前高校师生交往互动总体水平较低,不同类型院校差异显著;高校人才培养模式、教师的教学行为、高校学生工作、学生的学习动机等对师生的情感交流和学习交流状况具有不同的、显著影响。目前高校的生态环境决定了师生交往的限制,只有通过大学生态环境的逐步改善,比如人才培养模式改革、配套制度建设、资源配置倾斜、与学工系统密切合作等,才有可能建设良好的、有利于学生学习的师生互动。  相似文献

Traditional approaches to research into mathematical thinking, such as the study of misconceptions and tacit models, have brought significant insight into the teaching and learning of mathematics, but have also left many important problems unresolved. In this paper, after taking a close look at two episodes that give rise to a number of difficult questions, I propose to base research on a metaphor of thinking-as-communicating.This conceptualization entails viewing learning mathematics as an initiation to a certain well defined discourse. Mathematical discourse is made special by two main factors: first, by its exceptional reliance on symbolic artifacts as its communication-mediating tools, and second, by the particular meta-rules that regulate this type of communication. The meta-rules are the observer’s construct and they usually remain tacit for the participants of the discourse. In this paper I argue that by eliciting these special elements of mathematical communication, one has a better chance of accounting for at least some of the still puzzling phenomena. To show how it works, I revisit the episodes presented at the beginning of the paper, reformulate the ensuing questions in the language of thinking-as-communication, and re-address the old quandaries with the help of special analytic tools that help in combining analysis of mathematical content of classroom interaction with attention to meta-level concerns of the participants.  相似文献

我国高校生态环境教育较为滞后,少数民族高校学生的生态环境教育更为薄弱。以民族高校为平台,开展生态环境教育十分必要。增强环境意识是提高全民族科技文化素质的一个重要方面,也是经济发展和社会进步的具体体现。民族高校中的生态环境教育应加强生态环境教育方面的师资队伍建设,提倡教师的科研工作与民族地区生态环境保护教育相结合;加强学科教育中生态环境教育的渗透;加强课程设置改革,对不同专业学生采取不同的方式或方法;鼓励学生积极参加主题实践活动,如社团、暑期实践、志愿者行动等,在实践中培养学生的能力,以此发挥来自少数民族地区学生在生态环境教育方面的作用。  相似文献
