We study the performance of dual branch switch and stay combining (SSC) diversity receivers operating over correlated Rician fading channels, in the presence of correlated Rayleigh distributed cochannel interference (CCI). Fast convergent infinite series representations for both the joint probability density function (PDF) of the SSC input signal-to-interference ratios (SIRs) and the PDF of the SSC output SIR are derived. The last one is applied to semi-analytically study the average bit error probability (ABEP) of differential binary phase shift keying (DBPSK). Furthermore, the optimum switching threshold in the sense of minimum ABEP is obtained numerically and the effects of fading severity and branch correlation on both ABEP and optimum switching threshold are investigated. Numerical and simulation results are presented to support the mathematical analysis.  相似文献

In this paper, a theoretical analysis of diversity incorporated Variable Energy Adaptation (VEA) in an Asynchronous Code Division Multiple Access (A-CDMA) system is discussed for Rayleigh, Rician and Nakagami slow fading channels. The adaptation is accomplished by providing the receiver with the capability of measuring the signal energy-to-noise ratio, and controlling the transmitted signal energy by means of a noise-free feedback loop. System parameters such as fading margin, maximum signal-to-noise ratio, and mean transmitter energy gain are derived and plotted for fading channels as a function of the probability of error specification and the probability of unsatisfactory operation. The mean and median probabilities of error are plotted as a function of energy-to-noise ratios for different fading channels. Error probability distribution and density functions are derived and plotted for various signal-fading distributions.  相似文献

Approximate mathematical form expressions were derived for the estimation of the average (ergodic) capacity and the average bit error rate of a log-normal free space optical channel in the cases of weak to moderate atmospheric turbulence conditions. We investigate the average capacity, the average bit error rate and the outage probability of free space optical communication channels using the frequentist and the Bayesian approach. Emphasis is given on the cases of weak to moderate atmospheric turbulence leading to channels modeled by log-normal distributed intensity fading. Furthermore, accurate approximate closed-form expressions and estimation procedures for their achievable capacity as well as their bit error rate and the important parameters of interest are derived. The derived approximate analytical expressions are verified by various numerical examples and simulations. Moreover, each methodology is reviewed in terms of their analytic convenience and their accuracy is also discussed.  相似文献

In this paper, we provide closed-form expressions for the symbol error probability of decode and forward cooperative diversity systems, when operating over independent but not necessarily identically distributed Nakagami-m fading channels. The results hold for arbitrary number of relays, and refer to the M-ary QAM and M-ary PSK modulations.  相似文献

Novel closed-form expressions for the probability density function and the average output signal-to-noise ratio at the output of a selection combiner in Weibull fading are derived. Using these expressions, the spectral efficiency of a direct sequence code division multiple access system is analytically obtained and performance evaluation results are presented.  相似文献

Transmit antenna selection with maximal ratio combining at the receiver (TAS/MRC) is a promising technique that can be used to avoid the hardware complexity of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) system without jeopardizing the diversity gain. The generalized Gaussian distribution (GGD) is used to model different kinds of additive noise including Gaussian, Laplacian, uniform, and impulsive. In this paper, we study the bit error performance of TAS/MRC system assuming flat Rayleigh fading channels perturbed by additive white generalized Gaussian noise (AWGGN). To this end, we provide a closed form expression for the average bit error rate of coherent modulation techniques in terms of Mejier’s G function that is readily available in many commercial mathematical software packages like MATLAB and Mathematica. Moreover, we study the asymptotic behavior of the BER at high signal to noise ratio (SNR). Analytical results are verified by simulation.  相似文献

This paper presents general, closed-form, and exact expressions for cumulative distribution function, probability density function and average value for the ratio of independent η-μ random variables, with arbitrary parameters. More specifically, the outage capacity with peak interference power constraint, the delay-limited capacity, and the ergodic capacity considering constraints on the interference power are derived for non-homogeneous environments containing multipath waves clusters. Numerical curves are presented to evaluate the effects of the general fading variables in spectrum sharing systems. Besides, the results are validated by performing Monte-Carlo simulations. Notably, the provided results find important applications in cognitive radio systems considering the spectrum sharing approach and channels modeled by η-μ distribution.  相似文献

In this paper, we analyze detection of multilevel phase-shift keying (MPSK) signals transmitted over a Gamma shadowed Nakagami-m fading channel. We derive novel analytical expression, in terms of Meijer’s G function, for Fourier coefficients of the probability density function of the received signal composite phase. Under the assumption of the imperfect reference signal extraction in the receiver, which is performed from the pilot signal, the analytical expression is derived for the symbol error probability (SEP) in the form of convergent series. The existence of the error floor is identified, and expression for its computation is provided. Mathematical proofs for convergence of Fourier series are provided for both SEP and SEP floor, and novel expressions of upper bounds for truncation errors are derived in terms of elementary mathematical functions. The convergence rate of the derived expressions is examined. Numerical results are confirmed independently by Monte-Carlo simulations.  相似文献

Cooperative diversity has been widely used in wireless communication systems since they greatly improves and enhances the quality of service as being virtual antennas without physically placing multiple antennas at the transmitter or the receiver sides. In this paper, we consider the amplify and forward (AF) relay-based communication systems under the influence of Nakagami-m multipath fading channels in both channel links. Several performance metrics are considered in this study, including, the bit error rate (BER), the ergodic channel capacity, and the outage capacity. The obtained expressions are in closed-form and can reduce to the Rayleigh channel model, as a special case. Numerical results are also provided for the obtained expressions and some conclusions are drawn.  相似文献

An upper bound and a lower bound to the probability of error for data transmission systems using a decision-feedback equalizer, with error propagation effects taken into account, are presented. Numerical examples show that they are tight bounds. We introduce the concept of a generalized decision-feedback equalizer suggested by the form of the derived bounds. A subclass is studied and optimized numerically with the aid of the derived error probability bounds. The solution represents the best compromise achievable by that class between the output noise power and the output intersymbol interference due to error propagation. A numerical example is carried out in detail to illustrate the concept.  相似文献

The performance of a Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA) system using Pseudo Noise (PN) codes and chaotic codes in the presence of a Weibull fading channel is studied in this paper. The W-CDMA system modeled using Gaussian Approximation is analyzed on a Weibull fading channel which fades the amplitude of the transmitted signal randomly according to the Weibull distribution. Closed-form expressions for Bit Error Rate (BER) are derived and expressed in terms of Meijer?s-G function. Performance measures in terms of BER are plotted versus Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) for various values of fading severity, average fading power, and channel memory using PN and chaotic codes. Performance comparison between PN codes and chaotic codes are also analyzed.  相似文献

A simple lower bound, an upper bound and a simple approximation to the upper bound on the probability of error for coherent phase-shift-keyed (CPSK) systems operating in the presence of intersymbol interference and additive noise are obtained. The additive noises in the in-phase channel and the quadrature channel are assumed to be independent, and are independent of the signal, but not restricted to be Gaussian. The approximation to the upper bound is four times the lower bound, hence the tightness of these bounds is uniform for all cases. This fact and the simplicity of the bounds make these bounds a useful system design tool. Numerical examples for quaternary and octonary systems are presented and compared to known results.  相似文献

Ordered statistics is applied in this paper to analyze the performance of ordered selection combining schemes with different modulation receptions operating in Nakagami-m fading environments. The ordered selection combining will be adapted to include the conventional selection combining (SC), the second-order diversity combining (SC-2), and the third-order diversity combining (SC-3). All the results are validated by comparing the special case Rayleigh distribution with the fading figure m=1 in the Nakagami-m distribution. The results show that SC is in performance the worst in both coherent and non-coherent schemes, as expected. The performance differences between SC-2 and MRC, and SC-3 and EGC are not significant when the diversity order L?3, but the differences will increase when L?5.  相似文献

In this paper, a closed-form expression for the moments generating function of the half-harmonic mean of two independent, not necessarily identically distributed gamma random variables with arbitrary parameters is presented. This statistical result is useful to the performance analysis of dual-hop wireless communication systems with amplify-and-forward relays in a Nakagami-m fading environment. The proposed mathematical analysis is substantiated by various numerically evaluated and computer simulation results.  相似文献

Signal constellations in the hyperbolic plane are provided as an alternative to traditional signal constellations in the Euclidean plane, since channels may actually exist for which the latter signal constellations are not as suitable as the former. A hyperbolic gaussian probability density function, based solely on geometrical considerations, is derived to determine the performance of the hyperbolic signal constellations. Benefits result from an approach conceived in terms of reduced signal-to-noise ratio, needed to achieve a prescribed error rate and equivalent optimum receiver complexity.  相似文献

The performance of a discrete-time linear estimator which receives compressed, quantized measurements is studied. Upper and lower bounds for the expected value of the estimate error covariance, along with the necessary equations for computing the probability of processing a measurement under the proposed data compression technique, is presented.  相似文献
