This study analysed The 8th Online Survey of Adolescent Health and Behaviour in 2012, which is a government-approved statistical survey of Internet use and patterns in Korea. We conducted a propensity score matching (PSM) to control for economic status differences between monocultural and multicultural families and an ANOVA to estimate the effects of multicultural family status, adolescents’ gender, school grades, locality, and parents’ academic background on adolescents’ Internet use (for studying and entertainment). The study revealed the following: with regard to Internet use patterns, adolescents from both monocultural and multicultural families selected gaming as their first choice, followed by studying and data searching. Furthermore, main and interaction effects of independent variables on adolescents’ time spent on the Internet for studying were not significant. However, the interaction effects of multicultural family status and mothers’ academic background on adolescents’ time spent on the Internet for entertainment were statistically significant. Specifically, adolescents’ time spent on the Internet for entertainment was higher in multicultural families with mothers whose education level was lower than middle school. Finally, we suggested that the government should provide full support to less educated mothers in multicultural families for effectively and constructively controlling their children’s Internet use and teaching it to them.  相似文献

网络成瘾严重影响了青少年的身心健康和学习,它已成为当今社会问题之一。文章采用网络成瘾测验问卷和父母教养方式评价量表对600名青少年进行了测验。结果显示:在父亲教养方式中,网络成瘾与非网络成瘾青少年在惩罚严厉、过度干涉、拒绝否认、过度保护4个因子得分差异有显著性;在母亲教养方式中,网络成瘾与非网络成瘾青少年在过度干涉保护、拒绝否认、惩罚严厉3个因子的得分差异有显著性;父母的拒绝否认对高、低差异组青少年网络成瘾程度的差异有显著性。采取赏识、宽容、民主的教养方式,可以有效防止青少年网络成瘾。  相似文献

Children and adolescents are exposed to a huge variety of communication channels. In this study, we examined the relationship between medium preference and content consumed, and the factors of preference by Israeli children and adolescents, with reference to socio-demographic characteristics. This is a quantitative, mixed-method study with a qualitative element. A total of 345 participants from Israel completed questionnaires, of whom 90 were also interviewed. The findings indicate that the key factors in choosing a medium are availability, interactivity, diversity, and the ability to surf while performing other functions (Internet), and convenience (TV). The leading content are music and video clips, followed by reality shows, entertainment programs, satire and comedy, movies, and drama series. Participants use the Internet most often, but when they can choose to watch certain content on the Internet or on TV, TV is the favorite medium for most content. Some content is preferred by boys, other by girls, some by young children, other by adolescents. Viewing by children and adolescents is not random or casual, but rather an informed choice driven by familiarity with the characteristics of each medium, and by the selection of content that meets their needs.  相似文献

An exploratory study was designed to describe Internet search behaviors of deaf adolescents who used Internet search engines to complete fact-based search tasks. The study examined search behaviors of deaf high school students such as query formation, query modification, Web site identification, and Web site selection. Consisting of two fact-based search tasks, the study was done in four regional day school programs for the deaf. As students conducted two search tasks, they completed task analyses of the selected Web sites and gave reasons for their selections. The research also identified the processes used by deaf students to compensate for limited English reading abilities while navigating search engines results that were typically written well above deaf students' average reading level. The results demonstrated that deaf adolescents were unable to initiate, conduct, analyze, or validate effective Internet searches in response to fact-based search tasks.  相似文献

通过对434名青少年的测查,探讨了父母支持、病理性互联网使用和孤独感的特点,以及孤独感在父母支持和病理性互联网使用关系中的中介作用。结果发现,"网络成瘾群体者"所占比例为3.23%;男生的父母支持水平高于女生,七年级的父母支持显著高于八年级和九年级;在病理性互联网使用上,男生的病理性互联网使用水平高于女生,六年级、七年级和八年级的病理性互联网使用水平均显著低于九年级;父母支持负向预测病理性互联网使用,孤独感在父母支持和病理性互联网使用之间起部分中介作用。  相似文献

The use of the mobile Internet continues to play an increasing role in all of our lives and particularly in the lives of college and university students. Questions have been raised about the impact of the Internet on adolescents’ and college students’ fulfillment of traditional developmental tasks and more broadly their mental health. The present article posits potentially negative values associated with Internet use and shows how existential psychotherapy promotes corrective values that can help students navigate their Internet use. The existential psychotherapy framework brings mindfulness and conscious choice into students’ decision-making process. This approach intentionally focuses on universal aspects of being human such as dealing with death, making decisions, confronting isolation, and creating meaning. The article will conclude with a case vignette on applying an existential psychotherapy framework to working with a college student.  相似文献
