In this article, scales constructed using principal components and Rasch measurement methods are compared. The context of the comparison is scale definition under difficult circumstances—when constructs are unclear and sample sizes marginal. Three data sets of increasing complexity and decreasing stability were used. Responses for the least complex data set were dichotomous; the remaining two were polytomous. Results of Rasch and principal components analyses were identical when data were stable and the structure unidimensional. With less stability and more complexity, the defined scales were still similar for the two analytic approaches. Effects of item positions on the scales were noted and are discussed. 相似文献

Teacher–student relationships are accepted as influential but the dynamics of those relationships are not well understood, especially with difficult students. A series of interviews were combined with classroom observations and written reflections to understand in what ways a teacher negotiated her relationship with a behaviorally challenging student throughout the school year. Four relationship phases, which are constantly revisited while establishing and maintaining relationships, were identified. Findings indicate that guided reflection and discussion were helpful in the negotiation process. Understandings of how relationships work, the effort required to maintain them and the support necessary for teachers are discussed. 相似文献

The purpose of this research was to provide data on what is actually happening in hiring practices in higher education to reflect affirmative action. It attempted to find out if there were qualified minority and female candidates available, if these candidates were seriously considered for employment, and whether they were actually hired. Data were collected from 191 institutions which has placed vacancy notices in The Chronicle of Higher Education. While there are some limitations to the study, the findings indicate that there are qualified minority and female candidates available. Further, in terms of percentages employed, members of minority groups are making progess toward employment and females are making even greater progress. White males, however, are not “closed out” in the hiring process. Therefore, it would appear that hiring practices in higher education are reflecting affirmative action. 相似文献

College physics professors, researchers, and teachers were asked to rate the importance to physics students of different intellectual abilities. These abilities were selected from J. P. Guilford's Structure-of-Intellect model of intelligence and presented on a 65-item questionnaire. Analysis of the responses found that four general intellectual factors were described. They were identified as abilities related to visualization, mathematics, logic, and problem solving. The variations of these factors' importance was examined for two different student subgroups, students who are studying to be physicists and students who are studying physics to be scientifically aware laymen. Variations between two respondent subgroups, physicists who are primarily engaged in research and physicists who are primarily engaged in teaching, were also explored. 相似文献

嘉靖和晚明是明代九边说法形成与演变的两个主要时期。嘉靖时期形成了《九边图论》九边说法与《皇明九边考》九边说法。这两种说法基本是明朝当时北边九大军镇体系的直接反映。由于形成较早,而且相对符合史实,故而较为流行。为以后诸多史籍所继承,且亦为诸版本《明史》所吸收,从而成为目前关于九边的一般表述。晚明时期形成了两类五种九边说法:第一类九边说法将明初都司卫所纳入九边体系,第二类九边十六镇说法和九边七镇说法,体现出对原有九边说法进行补充和完善的努力,但这两类九边说法由于形成较晚,影响不大。在入清以后,由于时代变换以及腹里军镇被忽视的缘故,这些说法逐渐被遗忘了。 相似文献
