本根据数字图书馆的建设需要，探讨了利用XML技术对MARC进行重新描述的必要性，在此基础上，对基于XML的MARC信息描述进行了尝试性的研究，提出了XML MARC的概念，给出了XML MARC的档类型定义，设计了MARC到XML MARC的转化算法，从而解决了应用XML MARC首先需要解决的问题，其研究成果对MARC数据在数字图书馆中的利用问题具有重要的意义。 相似文献

As libraries migrate to new integrated library management systems, MARC holdings implementation often becomes an option or a requirement. The implementation of MARC holdings can be a long-term process but there are long-term advantages to using the standard. Penn State University Libraries implemented MARC holdings for serials in conjunction with their migration to a new library management system and the need to manage and display holdings information for a multi-campus library system. The implementation of MARC holdings coupled with a system implementation can be challenging for all staff. AbstractIn 2015, the PCC Task Group on URIs in MARC was tasked to identify and address linked data identifiers deployment in the current MARC format. By way of a pilot test, a survey, MARC Discussion papers, Proposals, etc., the Task Group initiated and introduced changes to MARC encoding. Palmer's mission is to empower information professionals through education, research and achievement. The Palmer School offers a Doctorate in Information Studies; the Master of Science in Library and Information Science with optional concentrations in Archives and Records Management, Rare Books and Special Collections; Advanced Certificates in both Archives and Records Management and in Public Library Administration. MARC问世至今已有40年,图书馆资源委员会与艾弗拉姆的贡献至关重要.MARC首创元数据标识系统,采用纯文本文件,开发过程中吸收他馆经验并进行编目工作流程成本分析,提供了实用的产品,因而长盛不衰.MARC问世后,国际图联(IFLA)和各国相继开发了UNIMARC和本国MARC,20世纪90年代后出现转向USMARC/MARC21的趋势,XML格式的MARC成为新的方向.未来MARC将包含更丰富的信息,直接利用外部数据并结合FRBR,最终有可能回归书目数据的交换格式. 相似文献

由W3C推出的元数据标准可扩展标记语言XML和资源描述框架RDF分别规范了Internet上资源描述的语法和语义,为元数据的编码、交换和重用提供了基础架构。本文针对目前广泛存在于图书馆系统中的MARC格式的大量书目数据,研究了基于XML／RDF的MARC元数据描述技术,重点解决了MARC元数据的XML描述问题和基于RDF的MARC元数据描述问题,从而使得专用的MARC规范格式的书目数据转换成通用的机器可读和机器可理解的元数据成为可能。本文的研究成果对于现有MARC数据在未来数字图书馆中的利用具有重要意义。 相似文献

A mental retardation facility staff library of 700 volumes required complete organization. Two restraining factors were lack of personnel and limited funds. A plan was developed to classify titles according to Library of Congress, with the subject heading catalog predominantly based on Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). A cataloging service was located which produced custom card sets and book labels from CATLINE and MARC computer databases. Where necessary, MARC records were edited to alter LC subject headings to MeSH terminology. Organization was accomplished at an average cost per title of less than $1.50. 相似文献

E-books are an important part of library collections. Allowing patrons to easily find e-books in a library’s online catalog requires properly cataloging these materials. Miao Jin, Catalog Librarian at Hinds Community College, gave a presentation titled “Cataloging e-Books: Dealing with Vendors and Various Other Problems” at the Mississippi State University Libraries’ eResource & Emerging Technologies Summit held in the Mitchell Memorial Library on August 2, 2013. Jin provided information on cataloging her library’s e-books and adding them to the library’s online catalog.
