《洪范》是不是西周时代的作品,我不是考据家,故在这里不做考证的工作。但“五行说”确不始于西周,在虞夏之际就已出现了。如果不相信,请看《左传》所引的《夏书》。“《夏书》曰:戒之用休,董之用威,劝之以九歌、勿使坏。九功之德,皆可歌也,谓之九歌。六府三事,谓之九功。水、火、金、木、土、谷,谓之六府。正德、利用、厚生,谓之三事,义而行之,谓之德。”(《左传》文七年)由此可证,“五行说”是始于虞夏之际,并不是始于西周,两者不同之点,则《夏书》谓之六府,而《洪范》谓之五行,实质是一样的,因为土产谷,土谷相连,故举水、火、金、木、土而兼及谷,谓之六府。这是“五行说”最早的提法。现在通行的古文《尚书》,可能依据上引《夏书》加以改写,编入《大禹谟》。 相似文献
