This paper aims to discus some practical ways to develop the learners’autonomous English learning abilities.After analyzed the motivation problems,the author strengthened learners’motivation through classroom teaching successfully by building good social relations,promoting negotiation,promoting interaction in the classroom and setting up adequate evaluation systems,etc.The author finds that using the content of regular college classroom teaching as a meaningful context for the development of responsibility can enhance the learning effect.The teacher’s guiding role in autonomous learning should never be ignored.Developing autonomous English learning in vocational colleges in China is our long-term pedagogical goal. 相似文献

This study based on researcher’s adult oral English teaching experience,takes an adult English learner as a case study to explore the characteristics of an autonomous English learner.From analysis of data (observation and teaching diary),this study elaborates three common characteristics of an autonomous learner:(1) Firstly,an autonomous learner has a high motivation;(2) Secondly,an autonomous learner is good at trying different learning strategies,especially metacognitive strategy to manage learning proceeding.(3) Lastly,an autonomous learner readily takes charge of their own learning by making plan and reflecting on it.Meanwhile,this study presents teacher’s role as a facilitator and consultor and some factors that need taking into consideration,offering a precious experience for future’s fostering of autonomous English learners. 相似文献

Learner autonomy is considered as one of the key educational goals in all the countries of the world since 1980s.In China,developing learner autonomy is particularly emphasized in College English Curriculum Requirements.Some researches have been made on developing learner autonomy,which seem to prove that the training of language learning strategies helps to develop learner autonomy.But because the traditional teaching method has been dominant in universities,college students,in particular art majors are passive and lose interests in English.Consequently,English teaching method must be reformed and learn er autonomy must be developed.In the relevant researches on learning strategy training and the development of learner autono my,the subjects are not involved in art majors.So the author tries to make a research in the field by combining with her teaching experience.Developing learner autonomy in art majors through the training of metacognitive strategies may lay the basis for their future learning and development,which is important for the college English teaching of art majors.Key wrods:learner autonomy;art majors;metacognitive strategy training 相似文献

Listening strategies are important in English learning and teaching. They are highly effective in developing learners’ listening comprehension ability. This paper firstly examines the theories of learning strategies and the uses of them in second language acquisition (SLA) and then reviews various research findings on strategy usage, such as the types of learning strategies used by good listeners, effective strategy training, and the teaching of strategies explicitly. The paper goes on to illustrate listening comprehension strategies involving top-down and bottom-up processes and provide with research evidence showing that using listening strategies can improve listening comprehension. Nowadays, English as a world language becomes more and more important. Consequently, English learning becomes more and more popular. As we know, an important object for English learners is to improve their communicative competence. So autonomous learning is a good way to improve communicative competence. In this paper, two terms, autonomous learning and communicative competence, and their relationship will be introduced from the perspective of English learning. Autonomous learning is self-managed learning, which is contrary to passive learning and mechanical learning, according to intrinsic property of language learning. Communicative competence is a concept introduced by Dell Hymes and is discussed and refined by many other linguists. According to Hymes, communicative competence is the ability not only to apply the grammatical rules of language in order to form grammatically correct sentences but also to know when and where to use these sentences and to whom. Communicative competence includes 4 aspects: Possibility, feasibility, appropriateness and performance. Improving communicative competence is the result of autonomous learning, autonomous learning is the motivation of improving communicative competence. This study explores how the Chinese learners apply the learning strategies in the language learning.The research examines how to understand EFL learners uses of learning strategies in language learning.The SILL(the Strategy Inventory for Language Learning) was the instrument of this study.The results show that the frequency of strategy use does not vary among the different levels of learners based on the SILL’s mean scores.The results suggest that as the learners’ levels become higher,the EFL learners tend to choose more strategies which are reflective of their active learning. 相似文献
