Augmented reality is a technology that overlays digital information on objects or places in the real world for the purpose of enhancing the user experience. It is not virtual reality, that is, the technology that creates a totally digital or computer created environment. Augmented reality, with its ability to combine reality and digital information, is being studied and implemented in medicine, marketing, museums, fashion, and numerous other areas. Many readers therefore turned to reading advisers for suggestions about what to read and how to read it. This paper reports the findings of a study on the positioning of an academic book in the information market. The contribution and significance of academic books to the spheres of science and education has been noted. The quantitative characteristics illustrate the relative stagnation of an academic book publishing based on the data obtained from the Russian Book Chamber. Expert-based evaluations from the leading research and academic libraries indicate that the official statistics are somewhat overstated and the quality of academic books has declined. 相似文献

This article tracks the uneasy coexistence of journalism and cultural studies, arguing that the tensions between the two fields have worked to mutual disadvantage. The article suggests that rethinking the ways in which journalism and its inquiry might be made a more integral part of cultural studies could constitute a litmus test of sorts for cultural studies. Figuring out how to embrace journalism's god‐terms of facts, truth, and reality alongside its own regard for subjectivity and construction could help move cultural studies into further degrees of maturation as a field. 相似文献

Two experiments were conducted to examine the effects of exposure to “thin” media images and of two mediating variables, upward comparison and perceptions of thinness as realistic, on Korean females' body image dissatisfaction and eating disturbance. In Study 1, college females exposed to thin images in magazines ads indicated a greater level of upward comparison with thin models, and such upward comparison mediated the effects of media exposure on body image dissatisfaction and eating disturbance. In Study 2, where participants were presented with thin characters in various TV shows, no significant effects of media exposure were found on the proposed mediating variables. As in Study 1, upward comparison was a significant predictor of female students' body image dissatisfaction and eating disturbance. 相似文献
