Tufts University School of Medicine's new health sciences education building, the Arthur M. Sackler Center for Health Communications, will house a modern medical library and computer center, classrooms, auditoria, and media facilities. The building will also serve as the center for an information and communication network linking the medical school and adjacent New England Medical Center, Tufts' primary teaching hospital, with Tufts Associated Teaching Hospitals throughout New England. Ultimately, the Tufts network will join other gateway networks, information resource facilities, health care institutions, and medical schools throughout the world. The center and the network are intended to facilitate and improve the education of health professionals, the delivery of health care to patients, the conduct of research, and the implementation of administrative management approaches that should provide more efficient utilization of resources and save dollars. A model and scenario show how health care delivery and health care education are integrated through better use of information transfer technologies by health information specialists, practitioners, and educators.  相似文献

数字图书馆的专业教育近几年来在美国及其他国家迅速发展。网络调查显示大学开设数字图书馆专业课程的数字4年内增加了3倍。目前不但专业信息管理及图书馆院系设置此课程,计算机、通信及工程学院也设置类似课程。从对40多所大学数字图书馆课程的教学大纲、学习重点、课题项目及选用教科书的研究分析中可以看出,多数院系重视学生的实际操作本领,一些注重数字图书馆学的系统教育,一些偏重网络及计算机软件技术的教育。虽然占领先地位的并非都是传统的图书馆院系,有些教授内容也未全部使用此领域的最新研究成果,但将数字图书馆作为一门新学科内容,训练学生掌握使用这门新技能,已成为信息学、信息与计算机技术和信息管理大学课程中的一个热点。数字图书馆专业教育的迅速发展反映了信息管理及图书馆学教育的一个新趋势。  相似文献

The experiences of medical students, residents, and faculty with a computerized literature searching system were evaluated. Third-year medical students, internal medicine and family practice residents, and full-time and voluntary faculty at one medical school had the opportunity to use a full-text and bibliographic medical literature retrieval system free of charge for an eleven-month period. Subjects conducted nearly nine thousand literature searches over a period of 942 system hours. Questionnaire data showed that participants could learn to use and would use an electronic information system, felt capable of using the system, utilized the system for a variety of purposes and in a number of different ways, and viewed the system as a valuable tool in searching the medical literature. The results are discussed in the context of the educational needs of the four user-groups and medical education planning by institutions.  相似文献

选取2012年全国高校及科研院所公布的"硕士、博士研究生招生专业目录"作为研究对象,围绕图书情报学、管理学两大学科领域,利用Excel软件统计开设"知识管理"相关研究方向的科研机构及其研究生专业信息,发现知识管理研究重点集中在图书馆学、情报学、管理科学与工程、技术经济及管理、工商管理(企业管理)这5大专业中,并从基金资助、学位论文和研究方法3个角度对不同学科下知识管理的研究生教育进行比较分析。最后,从明确知识管理培养目标、完善知识管理课程体系、设置知识管理二级学科、编写知识管理权威教材和借鉴知识管理海外教育5个方面,探讨对我国知识管理研究生教育良性发展的一些启示。  相似文献

展品是科技馆有别于其他教育机构的主要教育资源,但如果展品仅是单纯展示而不辅之以必要的教育活动,其教育功能往往难以充分实现。通过考察分析和开发教育活动的实践,笔者认为:欲充分实现展品的教育功能,引导观众深入思考、主动探索,须通过教育活动对其教育资源进行“二次开发”。本文主要介绍了科技馆展品“二次开发”的概念、必要性、类型,并结合具体案例论述了其实现的方法与途径。  相似文献

The primary goal of this course was student orientation and retention. Computers are integral to medical practice, education, and research. While medical students learn computer skills during their training, many practicing physicians do not have the same computer experience. To familiarize this group with the exciting developments in medical informatics, the Himmelfarb Health Sciences Library and Department of Computer Medicine at the George Washington University Medical Center organized a workshop "Introducing Your Office Computer!" for attending physicians. The workshop featured a short lecture/video presentation on computer applications in medicine followed by a "computer fair" of five computer applications. Eleven physicians attended the workshop. Feedback was very positive; many called later to request more detailed instructions on using the programs demonstrated. It was a valuable experience for the staff, and new bridges were built between departments and clients.  相似文献

THE PRESENT SYSTEM OF EDUCATION FOR MEDICAL LIBRARY PRACTICE IN THE UNITED STATES CONSISTS OF FOUR MAJOR COMPONENTS: graduate degree programs in library science with specialization in medical librarianship; graduate degree programs in library science with no such specialization; postgraduate internships in medical libraries; continuing education programs. Data are presented illustrating the flow of graduates along these several educational pathways into medical library practice.The relevance of these educational components to the current medical library work force is discussed with reference to manpower data compiled for Ohio. The total number of medical library personnel in Ohio in 1968 is 316. Of this total, only forty-two (approximately 14 percent) have received any formal library training. Seventy persons have only a high school education. From these figures, it is concluded that there is no standard or essential qualification which is universally accepted as educational preparation for work in medical libraries; that the comparative sophistication of the educational programs in medical librarianship has yet to be reflected widely in general medical library practice; that an increasingly large number of non-professional or ancillary personnel are being, and will continue to be, utilized in medical libraries; that large numbers of untrained persons have sole responsibility for medical libraries; and that appropriate educational programs will have to be designed specifically for this type of personnel.  相似文献

In order to plan adequately for education in health science librarianship and to be able to project future demands and needs we need to know a great deal more about existing manpower in health science libraries. This paper, the first in a series of reports on an investigation to gather this data, discusses the research methodology and the development of an inventory of the institution-program population upon which the survey is based. An analysis in terms of geographic location, type (educational, research, etc.), administrative control, and primary cognate area of these institutions is presented, and their distribution through the various Regional Medical Library areas is noted. Preliminary estimates are made, based on a questionnaire to the libraries, on the size of the library population, their relationship to reporting programs or institutions, exclusive of the hospital population which is being covered in an independent survey. A questionnaire to library personnel is underway which will establish, along with the other questionnaires, a basis for exploring the relationships which exist between institutions or programs, libraries and manpower.  相似文献

Abstract

With the proliferation of distance education courses in the field of library and information science today, academic library paraprofessionals have the means to continue their education while continuing to be productive in their jobs. Courses can be taken online through institutions and organizations such as library schools, community colleges, and network consortia. Suggestions for types of places to look for appropriate courses are discussed. The paraprofessional library employee is in a unique position to pursue continuing education, and library administrators will find that supporting such efforts benefits both the employee and the library.  相似文献

期刊的快速反应能力在重大突发公共卫生事件中具有深远的社会意义。面对新冠肺炎疫情,医学期刊发挥专业优势,采取策划专题组稿、开放文献获取、进行科普宣教等快速灵活的反应措施应对此次突发公共卫生事件。医学期刊在高效传播科研成果和引导大众科普等方面取得了一定的成果,体现了作为出版人的社会责任和担当使命。医学期刊应当建立并完善应对重大突发公共卫生事件的快速灵活的机制;强化社会责任意识;充分利用数字化的出版模式,提高自身快速出版发行的能力,以确保其在特殊事件中更好地履行传播权威科研成果、引导社会正向舆论、传递社会正能量等社会责任,用实际行动助力疫情防控。  相似文献
