The current article deals with the issue of increased dropouts of deaf pupils from compulsory education (primary and junior high school) and tries to map out plausible reasons according to what principals and teachers for the deaf say, which might account for these reduced graduation rates for deaf pupils from primary dropouts. Official statistics are employed to demonstrate and junior high school. This data is collected through annual census surveys targeting all primary and secondary schools for the deaf, conducted by the National Statistical Service of Greece (NSSG). Then, this paper tries to explore some of the possible reasons, which could be at the root of these increased dropout rates from primary and lower secondary schools, according to the accounts of principals and teachers for the deaf, who serve in schools for the deaf. Two types of questionnaire were employed, addressed to principals and teachers for the deaf, serving in schools for the deaf, one on one, and telephone interviews, with these two categories of respondent. Low graduation rates are associated with several factors, including inadequate coverage for schools for the deaf, the fact that Gymnasia do not operate everywhere there are primary schools for the deaf and the fact that often deaf pupils have to enrol in schools for the deaf only after suffering considerable delay can be partly attributed to the relative shortage of schools for the deaf. Other limitations include the inadequate use of hearing aids by pupils, associated with inadequate screening and assessment procedures; a lack of kindergartens and preschools for the deaf; and the relative shortage of speech therapists in schools for the deaf. In addition, teachers criticized the fact that the "whole-day" school initiative, which allows pupils to remain in school until 4 p.m. and have assistance with their homework, does not operate in the majority of schools for the deaf. In addition, the need to create books and teaching materials more tailored to deaf pupils' needs was mentioned, as well as inadequate or lack of teacher training in deaf pedagogy and Greek Sign Language. Findings are discussed in accordance with the international bibliography on this issue.  相似文献

To research the operating mechanisms of rural financial reform, through setting up a contract model, the constraint roles of reputation and legal intervention on the default risk arising in the operating of the credit union funds are inspected. Analysis indicates that the increase in reputation cost can reduce the probability of union member default behavior and the probability of turning to the law for the credit union funds. Meanwhile, the amount of loans and the interest rates can increase the probability of turning to the law for the credit union funds. Below the marginal values, the penalty mechanisms can reduce the balancing probabilities of member default behavior and turning to the law for the credit union funds, namely, the penalty has some "substitution effect" for turning to the law for the credit union funds.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine the contribution of psychological and social factors to the prediction of adjustment to college. A total of 250 first year students from colleges of education in Kwara State, Nigeria, completed measures of self-esteem, emotional intelligence, stress, social support and adjustment. Regression analyses revealed that all the independent variables predicted adjustments. Social support interacted with stress to predict adjustment. Implications for the counselors, parents and college authorities in enhancing students' adjustment to college were discussed. Further, the findings implicated the need for college authorities to integrate activities designed to improve students' adjustment into college co-curricular activities meant for youth development.  相似文献

This paper presents the evaluation of the teaching guide application for the subject of management control in the Business Management and Administration Degree. The evaluation began with the analysis of a questionnaire which aimed to collect the perceptions of learners who have studied this subject in two groups (morning and afternoon) during the first semester of the current academic year. The intention of this analysis was to obtain information that would meet two objectives: to continue upgrading the teaching-learning process and to revise and improve all the components in the teaching guide. There is an analysis of the degree of difficulty involved in the activities proposed and the degree to which specific objectives for different competencies have been attained. Likewise, we have carried out a global assessment of the different methodologies applied in the teaching-learning process, and an assessment of the evaluation system as well as of other aspects that could have hindered reaching the objectives stated in the guide. Furthermore, the relevance of this questionnaire has been vindicated for obtaining the information necessary to adjust the learner's workload to the European credit.  相似文献

The authors report an implemented environment for computer-assisted authoring of test items and provide a brief discussion about the applications of NLP techniques for computer assisted language learning. Test items can serve as a tool for language learners to examine their competence in the target language. The authors apply techniques for natural language processing to help teachers prepare test items for elementary Chinese. Teachers can then compile the test items to form test sheets for formal examinations on the Internet. The system can record the results of the tests for post-test analysis of students' achievements so that teachers can gain .insight into the distributions over students' competence levels and can adjust the teaching activities for the students who may need individualized care. At this moment, the system offers assistance for authoring test items for basic listening comprehension, cloze tests, incorrect-character identification, sentence reconstruction and usage of measure words.  相似文献
