In this invited article, we present an ongoing research program in the area of writing. Although this program has focused on students with learning disabilities (LD) and other struggling writers, it has also concentrated more broadly on issues involving writing development and general writing instruction. One purpose of this review was to share our basic findings in each of these areas, as they have important implications for teaching writing to students with LD. Another purpose was to illustrate how an ongoing research program develops and grows over time. To make this process more concrete, we employed several different literacy devices, including drawing an analogy between the development of our research program and the development of the story line for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Our final purpose was to describe the research we plan to do in the near future. 相似文献

检视是对翻译写作过程的一个重要补充和创新,可以通过作者对文本的重新审视和修改,使文本质量得以大幅提升。传统的课堂检视方式,或目的性不强,或缺乏系统性,收效甚微。建议教师在翻译写作学的课堂教学中,运用英汉对比知识,借助自建的小型学生作业语料库指导学生进行检视,对存在问题进行感性而有效的梳理、评价和修改,以提高学生自我检视能力和翻译写作的质量。 相似文献

首先分析了我国高校写作教学的现状,认为传统的写作教学存在着弊端,因此,迫切需要进行写作教改。在高校基础写作课中贯彻写长法是一种新的教学尝试,而写长法中的任务设计非常重要。接着笔者论述了如何设计好作文任务,而且特别强调写长法的任务设计与现在所推广的英语任务型教学是一致的,因此有它的理论依据。最后,从写长法实践一学年后学生的成绩以及他们的感受和反馈意见来看,笔者认为写长法的任务设计与任务型教学所强调的“做中学”非常吻合,因此,可以预见,这种方法将有利于提高学生的语言综合运用能力。 相似文献

Students in a large undergraduate biology course were expected to write a scientific report as a key part of their course design. This study investigates the quality of learning arising from the writing experience and how it relates to the quality of students’ preconceptions of learning through writing and their perceptions of their writing program that led to their report. Closed‐ended questionnaires investigating student conceptions and perceptions of writing, and approaches to writing, were completed by 121 students. Significant associations were found amongst qualitatively different prior and post conceptions of writing, approaches to writing and achievement. The results of the analyses suggest that the effective support of student experiences of writing reports requires teachers to be aware of the type of conceptions that students bring to their course and the perceptions they hold about the purpose of the writing program in which they are engaged. 相似文献

本文从语言和情感两方面探讨高职院校商务英语专业学生基础阶段的写作状况。通过问卷调查、访谈、错误分析,发现学生在基础阶段英语词汇量偏低,语法错误严重,特别是不能正确运用动词和时态的变化;学生大多承认写作的重要性,但由于没有良好的学习习惯和策略,自信心不高,毅力不坚定,付出的努力不够,写作效果较差。 相似文献

对英语作为第二语言(ESL)的写作教学来说,"以过程为中心"的方法较诸"以产品为中心"的方法可能更为有效.作为一种写作教学方法,"过程法"注重写作的过程,因而在实施中特别重视写作过程中的不同阶段,并就各阶段设置了多种多样的练习活动,以使学生写出更有意义的作品.然而,我们不能将"过程法"降为一种具有规定技巧和惯例的"办法",而应创设有效的写作学习环境,在这种环境中,学生不仅对写作感到轻松愉快,而且能自主探索并培育个性化的写作方法. 相似文献

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to examine the quality of writing of second and sixth graders who were taught by two different writing approaches (whole language and traditional). The writing samples were rated on two separate criteria-quality of content and mastery of mechanics. Three raters evaluated the writing samples, and an analysis of variance was performed to measure differences. The findings were as follows: (a) Second graders who were taught by teachers using the whole language approach produced better writing samples when evaluated on meaning and content, (b) There was no difference in writing samples in the correct use of mechanics of second graders taught by either approach, (c) There was no difference in writing samples of sixth graders taught by either approach. 相似文献

The paper describes a case study in which the main objective is to understand how engineering students can improve their writing skills, regarding spelling and syntax, when taught specifically on these issues. The methodology Writing To Learn is applied in two courses and, making use of the written texts, the students’ writing skills are assessed and evaluated. In one course, writing skills are taught and assessed and in the other they are only assessed. The comparison allows conclusions on the success of teaching writing skills, the influence of text styles and the differences between basic and advanced writing skills. It was found that writing skills were successfully taught, particularly with regard to basic writing skills. Advanced writing errors are twice as common as basic writing errors. Schematic writing styles favour a reduced number of writing errors. 相似文献
