The paper relates the power engineering problem of the extremal values of effective energy flow to a well established branch of mathematics; namely, the spectral analysis of linear operators. Variation of the effective energy flow in a linear time-invariant power distribution system is studied in the light of numerical range of the operator representing the system [Eqs. (18, 19)]. A knowledge of this range and its extremal values depends on the evaluation of eigenvalues and eigenvectors of a complex network function. In most cases an exact evaluation is practically unattainable (Section V). Simple and practical estimations of the energy dissipation range are presented. The novel spectral approach to energy problems may hopefully find useful applications in power transmission and distribution. 相似文献

The problem of asymptotic stability of linear neutral systems with multiple delays is addressed in this article. Using the characteristic equation approach, new delay-independent stability criteria are derived in terms of the spectral radius of modulus matrices. The structure information of the system matrices are taken into consideration in the proposed stability criteria, thus the conservatism found in the literature can be significantly reduced. Simple examples are given to demonstrate the validity of the criteria proposed and to compare them with the existing ones. 相似文献

The asymptotic stability of linear neutral systems with a single delay is investigated in this article. Based on the characteristic equation, new algebraic criteria for the stability of the system are derived in terms of the spectral radius of corresponding modulus matrices. The significance of our new criteria is that it takes into consideration the structure information of the system matrices, thus reducing the conservatism found in the literature. Two simple methods of model reduction over a frequency interval are proposed. In both of the procedures the reduced model is chosen so that its spectral amplitude function matches with that of the original system in a specified frequency band. In the first method we develop a polynomial approximation to the spectral function of the original system. In the second method we force the spectral function of the reduced order model to coincide with that of the original system at certain chosen frequency points. The frequency responses of the reduced models obtained by both methods match fairly well with that of the original system. The virtue of this method is that it can be applied to systems of which only frequency response data are available and not the transfer function. 相似文献

The discrete-time algebraic Riccati equation (DARE) have extensive applications in optimal control problems. We provide new theoretical supports to the stability properties of solutions to the DARE and reduce the convergence conditions under which the accelerated fixed-point iteration (AFPI) can be applied to compute the numerical solutions of DARE. In particular, we verify that the convergence of AFPI is R-superlinear when the spectral radius of the closed-loop matrix is greater than 1, which is shown by mild assumption and only using primary matrix theories. Numerical examples are shown to illustrate the consistency and effectiveness of our theoretical results. 相似文献
