The research reported in this article investigated the effect of manufacturing strategy on organizational performance in the Malaysian electrical and electronic sector. It was revealed that a cost‐based strategy greatly affected the performance of organizations participating in this study. This result implied that a cost‐based strategy is still a dominant concern for manufacturing firms. The information gathered through this study is useful for strategy formulation and for understanding how a strategy can lead to improved organizational performance in general. 相似文献

Teaching of manufacturing courses for undergraduate engineering students has become a challenge due to industrial globalisation coupled with influx of new innovations, technologies, customer-driven products. This paper discusses development of a modern manufacturing course taught concurrently in three institutions where students collaborate in executing various projects. Lectures are developed to contain materials featuring advanced manufacturing technologies, R&D trends in manufacturing. Pre- and post-surveys were conducted by an external evaluator to assess the impact of the course on increase in student's knowledge of manufacturing; increase students’ preparedness and confidence in effective communication and; increase students’ interest in pursuing additional academic studies and/or a career path in manufacturing and high technology. The surveyed data indicate that the students perceived significant gains in manufacturing knowledge and preparedness in effective communication. The study also shows that implementation of a collaborative course within multiple institutions requires a robust and collective communication platform. 相似文献

In order to improve efficiency of virtual enterprise, a manufacturing grid and multilevel manufacturing system of virtual enterprise is built up. When selecting member enterprises and task assignment based on the manufacturing grid, key activities are assigned to the suitable critical member enterprises by task decomposition, enterprise node searching and characteristic matching of manufacturing resources according to the characteristic matching strategy. By task merger, some ordinary activities are merged with corresponding key activities and assigned to corresponding critical member enterprises. However, the other ordinary activities are assigned to the related ordinary member enterprises with enterprise node searching and characteristic matching of manufacturing resources. Finally, an example of developing the artificial hip joint in the virtual enterprise is used to demonstrate that efficiency of the virtual enterprise is improved by using the manufacturing grid and the proposed strategies for member enterprise selection and task assignment. 相似文献

为解决采用传统串行过程进行汽车玻璃钢化风栅生产过程中周期长、效率低的问题，研究了把并行工程思想引入钢化风栅设计制造过程的方法。首先在汽车玻璃钢化风栅生产过程的基础上，阐述了钢化风栅方案设计的并行思想。以组合结构钢化风栅为例，研究了应用并行工程过程管理思想进行该类型模具设计制造中的过程分解、过程评估和质量保汪等问题。实践表明，应用并行工程中的过程管理方法对钢化风栅研制过程进行规划，生产效率约提高15％。 相似文献
