This article presents an annotated list of career and employment web sites to assist librarians and job seekers with locating information on all aspects of career and job searching. General indexes to career and employment resources are provided, along with sites specializing in career fairs, resume services, relocation and newsgroups. The aim of this paper is to present stable, comprehensive, and well maintained sites that provide resources and services without charge. However, some sites that charge for services, such as resume evaluation and writing, have been included because they also offer links to other sites and information that could be useful to a job searcher.  相似文献

Quality online maps and mapping resources, while indispensable to library users, can be challenging to locate. The range of available map types continues to expand and includes road maps, historical collections, political and physical atlases as well as maps and images of the moon and certain planets. Interactive mapping sites continue to grow and provide unique opportunities for users to interact with socioeconomic, historic, and physical data while creating unique and personalized maps. Current and reliable tax information is important to nearly every adult in the United States. Individual taxpayers, business owners, persons planning for their financial future, and employees of legal and tax-related fields all require accurate taxation information. This article is a selective, annotated guide to major U.S. taxation resources on the Internet. It includes official governmental Web sites; meta sites; resources for state and local taxation information; professional organizations and associations; news; tax reform sites; and sites designed for personal financial planning. There is a proliferation of Internet sites covering environmental themes. Many of these sites provide reference information in varying degrees. This article highlights environmental Web sites that provide a wide range of pertinent reference sources to a diverse audience. More than 50 highly selective Web sites are included in this paper. Some of these Web sites provide access to library catalogs, full-text articles, and other online resources. Demographic data is extremely valuable for a variety of business applications, including market research, strategic planning, identifying target markets, advertising, and for use with geographic information systems. Because timely data is very important, the Internet is increasingly being used as a tool for gathering and disseminating demographic data to end-users. This paper outlines many Web sites containing demographic data. Included are sites for governmental bodies, universities, and research institutions; international sites; commercial vendors; and Web versions of journals. As law schools build interactive web sites for teaching and administrative functions, law libraries must continue to develop useful and resource-rich web sites of electronic materials for their patrons. This article examines issues and practical considerations for implementing Internet and CD-ROM resources in a library and provides a basic review of the media available. With so many Internet sites devoted to education for educators, administrators, and librarians, it can be a daunting experience trying to find needed resources. There are special sites devoted to teachers, children, and parents. The government provides free access to database searching, statistics, and full-text publications. State and local levels of government also host valuable data and reports. More and more journals are appearing online in full-text format escalating user expectation to assume all journals will be available via the Internet. Tapping into higher education and academic library sites connects to content rich links. The Internet provides librarians with unprecedented access to time sensitive informational resources. The time critical nature of many health and medicine reference requests makes such access important to die health practitioner, educator, researcher, and the consumer.
