A new method for obtaining reduced order models for single-input-single-output, continuous-time systems is presented. The proposed algorithm matches the transfer functions of the original and the reduced system at 2M points where M is the order of the reduced model. The location of these points depends on a parameter which can be selected to control the accuracy of the approximation and stability. Numerical examples and comparisons with other methods of model reduction are given.  相似文献

Determining an input matrix, i.e., locating predefined number of nodes (named “key nodes”) connected to external control sources that provide control signals, so as to minimize the cost of controlling a preselected subset of nodes (named “target nodes”) in directed networks is an outstanding issue. This problem arises especially in large natural and technological networks. To address this issue, we focus on directed networks with linear dynamics and propose an iterative method, termed as “L0-norm constraint based projected gradient method” (LPGM) in which the input matrix B is involved as a matrix variable. By introducing a chain rule for matrix differentiation, the gradient of the cost function with respect to B can be derived. This allows us to search B by applying probabilistic projection operator between two spaces, i.e., a real valued matrix space RN?×?M and a L0 norm matrix space RL0N×M by restricting the L0 norm of B as a fixed value of M. Then, the nodes that correspond to the M nonzero elements of the obtained input matrix (denoted as BL0) are selected as M key nodes, and each external control source is connected to a single key node. Simulation examples in real-life networks are presented to verify the potential of the proposed method. An interesting phenomenon we uncovered is that generally the control cost of scale free (SF) networks is higher than Erdos-Renyi (ER) networks using the same number of external control sources to control the same size of target nodes of networks with the same network size and mean degree. This work will deepen the understanding of optimal target control problems and provide new insights to locate key nodes for achieving minimum-cost control of target nodes in directed networks.  相似文献

Using data generated by progressive nucleation mechanism on the cumulative fraction of citations of individual papers published successively by a hypothetical author, an expression for the time dependence of the cumulative number Lsum(t) of citations of progressively published papers is proposed. It was found that, for all nonzero values of constant publication rate ΔN, the cumulative citations Lsum(t) of the cumulative N papers published by an author in his/her entire publication career spanning over T years may be represented in distinct regions: (1) in the region 0 < t < Θ0 (where Θ0 ≈ T/3), Lsum(t) slowly increases proportionally to the square of the citation time t, and (2) in the region t > Θ0, Lsum(t) approaches a constant Lsum(max) at T. In the former region, the time dependence of Lsum(t) of an author is associated with three parameters, viz. the citability parameter λ0, the publication rate ΔN and his/her publication career t. Based on the predicted dependence of Lsum(t) on t, a useful scientometric age-independent measure, defined as citation acceleration a = Lsum(t)/t2, is suggested to analyze and compare the scientific activities of different authors. Confrontation of the time dependence of cumulative number Lsum(t) of citations of papers with the theoretical equation reveals one or more citation periods during the publication careers of different authors.  相似文献

In this paper, a Generalized Cluster Centroid based Classifier (GCCC) and its variants for text categorization are proposed by utilizing a clustering algorithm to integrate two well-known classifiers, i.e., the K-nearest-neighbor (KNN) classifier and the Rocchio classifier. KNN, a lazy learning method, suffers from inefficiency in online categorization while achieving remarkable effectiveness. Rocchio, which has efficient categorization performance, fails to obtain an expressive categorization model due to its inherent linear separability assumption. Our proposed method mainly focuses on two points: one point is that we use a clustering algorithm to strengthen the expressiveness of the Rocchio model; another one is that we employ the improved Rocchio model to speed up the categorization process of KNN. Extensive experiments conducted on both English and Chinese corpora show that GCCC and its variants have better categorization ability than some state-of-the-art classifiers, i.e., Rocchio, KNN and Support Vector Machine (SVM).  相似文献

This paper studies mathematical properties of h-index sequences as developed by Liang [Liang, L. (2006). h-Index sequence and h-index matrix: Constructions and applications. Scientometrics,69(1), 153–159]. For practical reasons, Liming studies such sequences where the time goes backwards while it is more logical to use the time going forward (real career periods). Both type of h-index sequences are studied here and their interrelations are revealed. We show cases where these sequences are convex, linear and concave. We also show that, when one of the sequences is convex then the other one is concave, showing that the reverse-time sequence, in general, cannot be used to derive similar properties of the (difficult to obtain) forward time sequence. We show that both sequences are the same if and only if the author produces the same number of papers per year. If the author produces an increasing number of papers per year, then Liang’s h-sequences are above the “normal” ones. All these results are also valid for g- and R-sequences. The results are confirmed by the h-, g- and R-sequences (forward and reverse time) of the author.  相似文献

n-grams have been used widely and successfully for approximate string matching in many areas. s-grams have been introduced recently as an n-gram based matching technique, where di-grams are formed of both adjacent and non-adjacent characters. s-grams have proved successful in approximate string matching across language boundaries in Information Retrieval (IR). s-grams however lack precise definitions. Also their similarity comparison lacks precise definition. In this paper, we give precise definitions for both. Our definitions are developed in a bottom-up manner, only assuming character strings and elementary mathematical concepts. Extending established practices, we provide novel definitions of s-gram profiles and the L1 distance metric for them. This is a stronger string proximity measure than the popular Jaccard similarity measure because Jaccard is insensitive to the counts of each n-gram in the strings to be compared. However, due to the popularity of Jaccard in IR experiments, we define the reduction of s-gram profiles to binary profiles in order to precisely define the (extended) Jaccard similarity function for s-grams. We also show that n-gram similarity/distance computations are special cases of our generalized definitions.  相似文献

We present a comparative study of four impact measures: the h-index, the g-index, the R-index and the j-index. The g-index satisfies the transfer principle, the j-index satisfies the opposite transfer principle while the h- and R-indices do not satisfy any of these principles. We study general inequalities between these measures and also determine their maximal and minimal values, given a fixed total number of citations.  相似文献

With increasing popularity of the Internet and tremendous amount of on-line text, automatic document classification is important for organizing huge amounts of data. Readers can know the subject of many document fields by reading only some specific Field Association (FA) words. Document fields can be decided efficiently if there are many FA words and if the frequency rate is high. This paper proposes a method for automatically building new FA words. A WWW search engine is used to extract FA word candidates from document corpora. New FA word candidates in each field are automatically compared with previously determined FA words. Then new FA words are appended to an FA word dictionary. From the experiential results, our new system can automatically appended around 44% of new FA words to the existence FA word dictionary. Moreover, the concentration ratio 0.9 is also effective for extracting relevant FA words that needed for the system design to build FA words automatically.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of H filtering for neutral systems with mixed time-varying delays and nonlinear perturbations is investigated. Some new delay-dependent sufficient conditions are presented to ensure that the filtering error system is asymptotically stable with a prescribed level of H noise attenuation. In addition, the design procedures for the existence of such filter are presented in terms of a set of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Slack variables and convex combination technique are adopted to reduce the conservatism of obtained results. Finally, three numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.  相似文献

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) plays an important role in the development of Breast Cancer. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of polymorphisms in the VEGF gene on prognosis of Breast Cancer patients. This study comprised 200 patients with histologically confirmed cases of Breast cancer and 200 controls. Genotyping of the VEGF gene polymorphisms at +405G>C,−1154G>A, were performed by PCR-RFLP analysis. Preoperative plasma VEGF levels were determined by ELISA. Amongst both cases and controls, the genotypic distribution of the individual SNPs were all in Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium. Mean VEGF level was significantly elevated in cases compared to controls (t = 8.248; P < 0.001). No significant association was found between +405G>C,−1154G>A VEGF polymorphism and Breast Cancer. Logistic regression analysis revealed that 405GG & 1154GG were associated with higher levels of VEGF.  相似文献

The rate of evaporation of electrons, νe, from a thoriated tungsten filament depends on the temperature T and on θ, the fraction of the surface covered by thorium atoms. The relation of νe to θ and T has been given by Brattain and Becker. From νe the change in contact potential V of the filament surface produced by the adsorbed thorium can be calculated by the Boltzmann equation. Knowing σ the number of thorium atoms per cm.3, the dipole moment M of each is given by V = 2τσM. By an equation already used for Cs films on tungsten, the 2-dimensional equation of state of the adsorbed film can be calculated from M. Then by Gibbs' adsorption equation the relation of the atom evaporation rate νa to θ and T can be determined. It is thus calculated that in the range from θ = 0.2 to θ = 0.6, νa varies in proportion to ? where H = 8.1 in good agreement with the value H = 7.8 given by Brattain and Becker's measurements. A recalculation of the data of numerous experiments in 1921–1923, using the new relations of νe to θ1 gives data on νa as a function of T and θ in good agreement with the values of νa calculated from νe.The diffusion coefficients of Th through tungsten crystals, along grain boundaries and over the free filament surface, are calculated. A theory is given for the cause of the variation in the surface diffusion coefficient with σ. The probable mechanism of the production of the metallic thorium within the filament is discussed. At 2400° the thorium which arrives at the surface along grain boundaries, for some unknown reason, does not spread out over the surface as it does at lower temperatures (1900–2100°).  相似文献

An h-type index is proposed which depends on the obtained citations of articles belonging to the h-core. This weighted h-index, denoted as hw, is presented in a continuous setting and in a discrete one. It is shown that in a continuous setting the new index enjoys many good properties. Then if it can be established that for the problem at hand ∥F(χm+1)∥?βm∥F(χm)∥, ? m > M0 (M0<∞) and 0?βm<1 , definitions are established and theorems proven concerning convergence, uniqueness and bounds on the error after ‘m’ successive iterations of a new approach to convergence properties T(χm). These charateristics are referred to as “alternate” (local, global) convergence properties and none of the proofs given are restricted to any specific type of method such as, e.g. contraction mapping types. Cystic Fibrosis Trans membrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene is an asthma susceptibility gene. In the present study we investigated the possible association of CFTR gene mutations in Indian asthmatic children as compared to controls. The study included 250 asthmatics and 250 age and sex matched controls. Case to control ratio for sample size was 1:1. Genotyping was performed for 24 CFTR gene mutations by ARMS-PCR and PCR–RFLP method. Among 24 CFTR gene mutations, heterozygous allele of R553X mutation was found in 4 (1.6 %) asthmatic cases and 2 (0.8 %) controls. Value of FVC and FEV1/FVC ratio were significantly lower in heterozygous individuals (p value <0.05). No significant difference was observed in the genotype and allele frequency of R553X mutation (OR = 1.339, 95 % CI = 0.755–2.374, p value = 0.685). Furthermore, all wild type homozygous alleles were observed in remaining 23 CFTR gene mutations. Our data concludes that R553X mutation was not significantly associated in Indian asthmatic children.  相似文献

This paper presents a simple and efficient design method for cosine-modulated filter banks with prescribed stopband attenuation, passband ripple, and channel overlap. The method casts the design problem as a linear minimization of filter coefficients such that their value at ω=π/2M is 0.707, which results in a simpler, more direct design procedure. The weighted constrained least squares technique is exploited for designing the prototype filter for cosine modulation (CM) filter banks. Several design examples are included to show the increased efficiency and flexibility of the proposed method over the exiting methods. An application of the proposed method is considered in the area of sub-band coding of the ECG and speech signals.  相似文献

The extract of Jatropha Gossypifolia stem was obtained by cutting the stem with a sharp knife and the fluid expressed out. The suitability of the stem latex extract as a precipitant for biochemical analysis was determined. The precipitating efficacy of the extract for creatinine and protein estimation was found to be optimum at 1/4 and 1/5 dilutions respectively aqueous solution. Plasma protein was precipitated with stem extract of J. Gossypifolia at the stated dilution. The mean plasma creatinine values obtained from 0.5 % sodium tungstate as a protein precipitant were compared with the values of plasma creatinine obtained when ¼ dilution of stem extract of J. Gossypifolia was used as protein precipitant. Similarly mean cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and urinary protein values obtained from 3 % Tricholoro-acetic acid as protein precipitant were compared with values obtained from 1/5 dilution of stem extract of J. Gossypifolia as protein precipitant. The values obtained from the stem latex extract at the stated dilutions were comparable with values obtained from the conventional protein precipitants (p < 0.05). The stem latex extract of J. Gossypifolia is suitable as a protein precipitant for creatinine, CSF and urinary protein estimations. However further work need to be done to purify the extract and determine the exact concentration at the stated dilutions as well as the active ingredient in stem latex.  相似文献

An algorithm for constructing a black box model of the sinusoidal input/steady-state response behavior of nonlinear time-invariant systems over a set of frequencies and amplitudes is presented. It is assumed that the steady-state response is periodic of the same fundamental frequency as the excitation, and that the Fourier coefficients are continuous functions of amplitude and square-integrable functions of frequency. The algorithm converges, in a mean-square sense, to an exact representation of the first N harmonics of the steady-state response minus its d.c. component. The model constructed by the algorithm admits a relatively simple physical realization characterized by 2NM+1 linear dynamic elements, and N(2M+1)+1 nonlinear static elements. The underlying mathematical structure of the model is an orthogonal series expansion relative to time whose coefficients are themselves truncated orthogonal expansions relative to frequency. Here M, the number of harmonics used for frequency interpolation, is determined by the algorithm. Of the N(2M+1)+1 memoryless nonlinearities which characterize the model, N of these are specified ahead of time (Tchebysheff polynomials), and 2NM+1 are parameters which mold the representation to the specific system being modeled. Each of these functions of a single variable can be obtained in a pointwise manner directly from steady-state measurements. The algorithm was implemented on a digital computer, and forced versions of the classic equations of van der Pol and Duffing were run as examples. An additional analytic example of a frequency multiplier of prescribed bandwidth was also presented.  相似文献
