通过对交际学习的3个要素(学习动机、交际愿意和交际活动)和交际教学的3条原则(交际原则、任务原则和意义原则)在中国英语教学实践的研究,发现中国的学习者没有太多使用英语来交际的需求,并且交际教学的3个原则也不一定能导致有效的语言学习。这个现象反映了交际教学法本身缺乏可控性和系统性的缺点。所以仅仅通过交际教学法不足以让中国的语言学习者既达到学习语言知识又发展交际能力的目的。 相似文献

The issue of neoliberalism has aroused sustained interest among English language teaching (ELT) and applied linguistic researchers who are politically minded. Neoliberalism is a dominant rationality with immense economic, political and ideological consequences in all aspects of social and institutional life in globalization, including foreign language education. This article presents a critical analysis of the neoliberal discourse on English language learning in the Chinese context with a special focus on teaching materials. Informed by a political economy perspective on English language education, the study employs critical discourse analysis (CDA) as a methodological principle. Specifically, it examines the way (a) competence in English is commodified as a desirable linguistic cultural capital, (b) English learning is portrayed as an individualized and asocial undertaking, and (c) a monolingual and monocultural dream is built to include learners in an imagined homogeneous discourse community. Implications for ELT pedagogy and curriculum are discussed. 相似文献

In this paper, the authors outline the development of ELT in the PRC in the last 10 years or so as seen in the wider context of educational reform in the country and the new direction towards quality education. Despite the influence of communicative language teaching and other language teaching approaches from outside the country, ELT in China has retained some of its essentially “Chinese characteristics”. As for the future of ELT in the PRC, the authors feel that, given the growing importance of English and the enormous energy and enthusiasm in the PRC for learning the language in both the formal and informal contexts, ELT will continue to flourish. Over the decades, efforts have been made to incorporate diverse perspectives on World Englishes into English Language Teaching (ELT) practice and teaching materials. To date, the majority of ELT learners and teachers have not yet been exposed to materials which use and explore non-standard forms of English. This paper examines the attitudes of Japanese learners and teachers of English towards the use of these forms in ELT coursebooks. This study, conducted through questionnaires, surveys, focus groups and interviews, indicates that junior and high school teachers in Japan are open to the possibility of exposing students to different varieties of English.
