The paper is devoted to the problem of the qualitative training of management specialists. New methods and instruments permitting the quality of accepted decisions to be heightened are described. ABSTRACT Current case law on free speech is a mixed bag. In a case recently dismissed, a professor challenged the President of the University of Oklahoma's decision to bar access to sex news groups from computers on campus. The end result was a two-tier lab system, one permitting access to faculty and those with valid research needs and a second that denied access. On the other hand, a superior court judge ruled that a Cal-State Northridge student could use a Web page to attack an incumbent state senator. Clearer answers will depend on more cases. 相似文献

Natural language and encoded character-string types of holding statements are described, together with views of the precision or specificity of holdings information. Components of holding statements, that is, natural language identifiers, issue identification data, and date labels, set the scene for examining general serials system holdings considerations. An example of a scheme developed in the course of research by the author at the University of Minnesota is used to point out how internal representations of complex character-strings of holding statement data can be given a structure permitting a high degree of automatic manipulation at the character level while still preserving a translated natural language in data display. 相似文献

Librarians provide instruction to medical students as part of a core course in the medical school curriculum. Instruction was provided, in part, through didactic sessions covering professional-level medical information resources, PubMed search skills, psychosocial information, and evidence-based medicine. Librarians redesigned instructional sessions with the goals of increasing student engagement and minimizing the lecture format, maximizing the number of students receiving feedback on their search and evaluation skills, and permitting students to see a variety of possible responses as well as engage in peer- and self-evaluation. Patients at a large medical clinic provided data permitting an analysis of the relationships of perceived communication behaviors (nonverbal immediacy, assertiveness, and responsiveness) and source credibility (competence and caring) with perceptions of the confidentiality of their medical records. Perceptions of physicians, nurses, and support staff were employed. The results indicate that patients’ perceptions of the communication behaviors and credibility of physicians, nurses, and support staff are meaningfully related to patients’ perceptions of confidentiality. The problems of actual confidentiality and perceived confidentiality are discussed in relation to the role of communication as part of the problem and a potential part of the solution. 相似文献
