Usually sickle cell traits are asymptomatic but co-existence of various factrors may alter the clinical as well as biochemical levels. In India sickle cell traits are neglected condition. Here we are presenting the alpha deletion in association with low serum iron and increased HbF level with Xmn-1 carriers in sickle cell traits. Sickle traits with alpha deletions had significantly low level of serum iron (P-value <0.05) with low level of reticulocytes and red cell indices while Xmn-1 polymorphism associated with increased HbF level. Study concludes low serum iron associated with alpha deletions and high level of HbF associated with Xmn-1 polymorphism in sickle cell traits. 相似文献

We address the feature extraction problem for document ranking in information retrieval. We then propose LifeRank, a Linear feature extraction algorithm for Ranking. In LifeRank, we regard each document collection for ranking as a matrix, referred to as the original matrix. We try to optimize a transformation matrix, so that a new matrix (dataset) can be generated as the product of the original matrix and a transformation matrix. The transformation matrix projects high-dimensional document vectors into lower dimensions. Theoretically, there could be very large transformation matrices, each leading to a new generated matrix. In LifeRank, we produce a transformation matrix so that the generated new matrix can match the learning to rank problem. Extensive experiments on benchmark datasets show the performance gains of LifeRank in comparison with state-of-the-art feature selection algorithms. 相似文献

Children's early language environments are related to later development. Little is known about this association in siblings of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), who often experience language delays or have ASD. Fifty‐nine 9‐month‐old infants at high or low familial risk for ASD contributed full‐day in‐home language recordings. High‐risk infants produced more vocalizations than low‐risk peers; conversational turns and adult words did not differ by group. Vocalization differences were driven by a subgroup of “hypervocal” infants. Despite more vocalizations overall, these infants engaged in less social babbling during a standardized clinic assessment, and they experienced fewer conversational turns relative to their rate of vocalizations. Two ways in which these individual and environmental differences may relate to subsequent development are discussed. 相似文献

Eight weeks of latent iron deficiency in weaned female rats of Sprague Dawley strain maintained on experimental low-iron diet
(18–20 mg/kg) did not significantly change the gross body, weight and tissue weights of brain and liver. Packed cell volume
(PCV) and hemoglobin concentration remained unaltered. However, non-heme iron content in liver and brain decreased significantly
(p<0.001). The activities of glutamate dehydrogenase, glutamic acid decarboxylase, and GABA-transaminase (GABA-T) in brain
decreased by 15%, 11.4% and 25.7% respectively. However, this decrease was not statistically significant. Binding of3H Muscimol at pH 7.5 and 1 mg protein/assay increased by 143% (p<0.001) in synaptic vesicular membranes from iron-deficient
rats as compared to the controls.3H glutamate binding to the synaptic vesicles was also carried out under similar condition. However, the L-glutamate binding
was reduced by 63% in the vesicular membranes of iron deficient animals. These studies indicate that iron plays important
functional role in both excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitter receptors. 相似文献

A study has been carried out on 250 CAD patients to see how the serum levels of three antioxidants i.e., Vitamin C, Bilirubin
and Ceruloplasmin are related to the CAD risk factors and characteristics in these patients. The number of severe category
CAD patients declined by 7–18% with increasing serum levels of the three antioxidants and, triple vessel disease declined
by 14–20%. A decline of 39% in Myocardial Infarction (MI) occurred with increasing serum Ceruloplasmin. Serum Ceruloplasmin
was significantly lower in the MI group compared to the non MI group CAD patients. There was a steady and a significant decline
in the mean values of serum levels of cholesterol, Triglyceride, VLDL cholesterol along with BMI with increasing serum level.
The study indicates that with increasing serum levels of the three antioxidants studied, the % MI along with % Triple vessel
disease and severity of CAD goes down suggesting that the modifiable risk factors have to be suitably modified in order to
maintain a reasonably high level of these antioxidants, as the risk factors are inversely related to the serum antioxidant

Present clinical study involved two groups of psychosomatic disorders, bronchial asthma and rheumatoid arthritis. In the study,
the levels of plasma cortisol, blood glucose, total cholesterol and triglycerides were estimated in 125 clinical subjects,
(50 normal controls, and 40 having bronchial asthma and 35 suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. The results showed a significant
change in the levels of plasma cortisol and blood glucose in both the stressed clinical groups' vis-à-vis normal controls.
The levels of atherogenic lipids (total cholesterol and triglycerides) were found quite elevated in both the diseased groups.
However, in rheumatoid arthritis, the physiological changes were relatively more pronounced. The findings of this study indicate
that rheumatoid arthritis is a relatively more chronic and late onset disorder as the functional performance of hypothalamopituitary-adrenocortical
axis gradually declines with passage of time and the ability of the adrenocortical response to return to normalcy becomes

Effect of feeding ripe and unripe papaya fruit pulps were investigated on blood lipid profile of normal male adult albino rabbits by giving them pulps separately at the dose of 15 and 30g per day along with standard diet over a period of six weeks. As compared to controls both fruit pulps resulted in highly significant (p<0.001) and consistent lowering of serum cholesterol, low density lipoprotein cholesterol and triglycerides and elevation in phospholipids and high density lipoprotein cholesterol levels at 1,3 and 6 weeks of fruit pulp feeding indicating a dose dependent effect. Observations clearly support medicinal value ofC. Papaya in the management of atherosclerosis, fatty liver, ischaemic changes and consequential myocardial infarction. 相似文献

The scrambling complexity hypothesis based on working memory or locality accounts as well as syntactic accounts have proposed
that processing a scrambled structure is difficult. However, the locus of this difficulty in sentence processing remains debatable.
Several studies on multiple languages have explored the effect of scrambling on sentence processing and not all languages
have shown an advantage for the canonical word order. Using a self-paced reading paradigm, we studied the effect of scrambling
on semantic anomaly detection in Hindi sentence comprehension employing three word order types. Reading times on critical
verbs, judgment latency, and error rates showed significant effect of word order type. The results further revealed significant
interactions between word order and anomaly type. The patterns of results suggest that the canonical word order does not necessarily
have a processing advantage in terms of speed and accuracy over non-canonical orders and do not provide support to sentence
processing accounts that assume an advantage for canonical structures. The results indicate that processing speed depends
on the distance between the subject and the verb, thus supporting a locality dependent working memory based model of sentence
processing. The results provide evidence for the role of specific cognitive processes in Hindi sentence processing with further
implications for language and literacy acquisition in Hindi. 相似文献

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a cluster of interrelated common clinical disorders. The role of resistin in insulin sensitivity and MetS is controversial till date. So, the aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship of plasma resistin levels with markers of the MetS in Indian subjects. In a case control study, total 528 subjects were selected for the study. 265 (194 male and 71 female) were cases (with MetS) and 263 (164 male and 99 female) were controls (without MetS). Required anthropometric measurements and calculations were carried out accordingly. All the Biochemical estimations were carried out according to standard protocol. Resistin level was measured by the standard protocol (By ELISA i.e. enzyme linked immunosorbent assay) as illustrated in the kit. Insulin level was also measured by the standard protocol as illustrated in the kit and insulin resistance was calculated by the standard procedures. Plasma resistin levels were significantly higher in cases compared with controls (male = 13.05 ± 4.31 vs. 7.04 ± 2.09 ng/ml; p ≤ 0.001 and female = 13.53 ± 4.14 vs. 7.42 ± 2.30 ng/ml; p ≤ 0.001). Plasma resistin levels were well correlated with waist circumference, glucose, triglycerides, waist/hip ratio, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, high density lipoprotein, total cholesterol, serum low density lipoprotein, serum very low density lipoprotein, insulin and insulin resistance. Plasma resistin levels were elevated in presence of the MetS and were associated with increased metabolic risk factors. 相似文献
