The purpose of this investigation was to determine whether a self-instructional method of attribution training could effectively alter both academic task persistence and effort attributions for success and failure. Ninety children with low-effort attributions were identified and randomly assigned to three groups. The two experimental groups (experiential and formal presentation) were given training with two slightly different self-instructional procedure and compared to a control group receiving no such training. The results revealed that both experimental groups receiving the self-instructional attribution training evidenced significant differences from the control group in both academic task persistence and effort attribution. 相似文献

The faculties of the post-secondary institutions in Florida, utilizing the authority of the State Board of Education, have implemented a testing program which greatly increases the assurance that all students who complete their sophomore year in college have achieved the communication and computation skills expected of them.When it became clear that the traditional safeguards no longer provided assurance that faculty members individually and collectively could define and maintain standards of student performance in communication and mathematics, care was taken in Florida to keep from throwing the baby out with the bath water. Hence, care was taken to strengthen and reinforce the central role of the faculty in both the definition of standards and in the assessment of student achievement that is required for the implementation of those standards.Faculty members from community colleges, state universities, and private colleges and universities, along with faculty members from secondary schools, have demonstrated their willingness and ability to work constructively in the implementation of a testing program which includes the use of the College-Level Academic Skills Test (CLAST) with sophomores in sixty colleges and universities in Florida. 相似文献

Although there are many Jewish day schools within the United States, relatively few offer gifted programs. The schools that do offer programs differ from each other, offering various forms of enrichment. We discuss the exemplary standards for gifted programs established by the National Association for Gifted Children and illustrate how the standards could be applied to Jewish day schools. This article examines some methodologies for allocating instructional resources within a large, public university. Models are developed for allocating equipment and current expense funding that incorporate objective or performance-oriented variables, as well as weighting variables that enable decision makers to quantify the more subjective elements of the allocation process.
