Recent studies on IT outsourcing have examined the effect of contract specification and relationship strength on IT outsourcing performance in a separate manner. Previous studies, however, ignored the importance of the governance effectiveness that bonds contractual control and relationship strength together to deliver expected outcomes in IT outsourcing exchange. In this paper, we propose a model of IT outsourcing management where governance effectiveness mediates the effect of both contractual control and relationship strength on IT outsourcing performance. We collected data from 143 client companies of IT outsourcing and analyzed it using the PLS method. Our findings show that both contract specification and relationship strength significantly influence governance effectiveness, although contract specification carries the more effect on governance effectiveness than relationship strength does. The governance effectiveness in turn mediates the effect of contract specification and relationship strength on three sub-dimensions of outsourcing performance: cost efficiency, performance improvement, and overall satisfaction. The results and implications are further discussed.  相似文献

This study investigated differences between two approaches to chained equipercentile (CE) equating (one‐ and bi‐direction CE equating) in nearly equal groups and relatively unequal groups. In one‐direction CE equating, the new form is linked to the anchor in one sample of examinees and the anchor is linked to the reference form in the other sample. In bi‐direction CE equating, the anchor is linked to the new form in one sample of examinees and to the reference form in the other sample. The two approaches were evaluated in comparison to a criterion equating function (i.e., equivalent groups equating) using indexes such as root expected squared difference, bias, standard error of equating, root mean squared error, and number of gaps and bumps. The overall results across the equating situations suggested that the two CE equating approaches produced very similar results, whereas the bi‐direction results were slightly less erratic, smoother (i.e., fewer gaps and bumps), usually closer to the criterion function, and also less variable.  相似文献

Much research has focused on student views about physics concepts, with an emphasis on the identification of alternative conceptions, and how curricula and professional development may ameliorate the situation. However, there has been little work on determining the extent of, and in separating, the student and teacher/classroom level variables that may impact student physics achievement. This study examined the effect of different student and teacher/classroom level variables on student understanding of physics concepts using hierarchical linear modeling (HLM), a regression based technique. The data were collected from 68 different teachers and 3,119 students who were using a reform curriculum, Active Physics. Teachers and students completed surveys asking about their beliefs, their classes and their personal characteristics. Students also completed a physics achievement test. The data show that students of teachers who used Active Physics for a greater portion of the year scored higher on the achievement test than did students of teachers who did not use the curriculum as much. Furthermore, the data show that the achievement gap was narrowed between boys and girls and between students with different attitudes toward physics. Additionally teachers who received inservice instruction on how to implement Active Physics narrowed the gap between students with different views of their classroom involvement. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The purpose of the current study is to identify the user criteria and data-driven features, both textual and non-textual, for assessing the quality of answers posted on social questioning and answering sites (social Q&A) across four different knowledge domains—Science, Technology, Art and Recreation. A comprehensive review of literature on quality assessment of information produced in social contexts was carried out to develop the theoretical framework for the current study. A total of 23 user criteria and 24 data features were proposed and tested with high-quality answers obtained from four social Q&A sites in Stack Exchange. Findings indicate that content-related criteria and user and review features were the most frequently used in quality assessments, while the importance of user criteria and data features was variable across the knowledge domains. In the Technology Q&A site containing mostly self-help questions, the utility class was the most frequently used group of criteria. The popularity of the socio-emotional class was more apparent in discussion-oriented topic categories such as Art and Recreation, where people seek others’ opinions or advice. Users of Art and Recreation Q&A sites in Stack Exchange appear to place more value on answerers’ efforts and time, good attitudes or manners, personal experience, and the same taste. The importance of user features and the emphasis on answerer's expertise on the Science Q&A site was observed. Examining the connection or gap between user quality criteria and data features across the knowledge domains could help to better understand users’ evaluation behaviors for their preferred answers, and identify the potential of social Q&A for user education/intervention in answer quality evaluation. This examination also offers practical guidance for designing more effective social Q&A platforms, considering how to customize community support systems, motivate contributions, and control content quality.  相似文献

This paper studies the robust stochastic stabilization problem for a class of fuzzy Markovian jump systems with time-varying delay and external disturbances via sliding mode control scheme. Based on the equivalent-input-disturbance (EID) approach, an online disturbance estimator is implemented to reject the unknown disturbance effect on the considered system. Specifically, to obtain exact EID estimation Luenberger fuzzy state observer and a low-pass filter incorporated to the closed-loop system. Moreover, novel fuzzy EID-based sliding mode control law is constructed to ensure the stability of the closed-loop system with satisfactory disturbance rejection performance. By employing Lyapunov stability theory and some integral inequalities, a new set of delay-dependent robust stability conditions is derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The resulting LMI is used to find the gains of the state-feedback controller and the state observer a for the resulting closed-loop system. At last, numerical simulations based on the single-link arm robot model are provided to illustrate the proposed design technique.  相似文献

As a part of the National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (NDIIPP), the Library of Congress (LC), partnering with the Center for Technology in Government (CTG), launched an effort in 2005 to integrate state governmental entities into the national network to preserve born-digital information that is both significant and at risk of loss. The main theme that emerged from the efforts of LC, CTG, and the state and federal digital preservation community was the importance of partnership efforts and collaborative strategies for the preservation of state government digital information. Based on the findings of the initiative, this paper discusses challenges and opportunities regarding interorganizational collaboration and community building for digital preservation of state government information. Following the community of practice framework, it is recommended that a “state government digital information preservation community” be developed to facilitate collaboration across agencies and knowledge professionals in state governments.  相似文献

This study identifies characteristics of Americans who chose the library as their primary cancer information source over the Internet by examining demographic characteristics, online use experience, concerns of information quality, and perceptions of cancer information seeking. A secondary data analysis is conducted using the Health Information National Trends Survey (HINTS) of the National Cancer Institute (NCI). Findings reveal that people who are more likely to choose the library are, compared to their Internet counterparts, people who lack online experience, are distrustful of online cancer information, and are more aware of cancer sources. However, they are not necessarily more adept cancer information seekers and do not have a greater expectation of getting quality information from the library. These findings suggest how the library plays its role as an information source for cancer information consumers in the e-health environment. Implications of the findings are discussed in a way that libraries could invest their efforts to reduce the digital health divide and to advance consumer health information literacy.  相似文献
