One of the main issues of internationalisation is networking. The network way of action within higher education institutions (HEIs) represents new modes of the information work. Networks are worth evaluating more precisely in the future, and social network analysis (SNA) is a useful tool for this evaluation. This article describes the network of people working with internationalisation in Finnish universities of applied sciences (UASs). The study combines SNA and knowledge‐sharing between HEIs. The model of knowledge creation introduced by Nonaka and Takeuchi is used in the analysis. On this ground of network evaluation, we study the network structure, relations and roles in the internationalisation network and discuss appearance of trust and competition in co‐operation between HEIs. 相似文献

Sealing of a microfluidic cartridge is a challenge, because the cartridge commonly contains heat-sensitive biomolecules that must also be protected from contamination. In addition, the objective is usually to obtain a sealing method suitable for mass production. Laser welding is a rapid technique that can be accomplished with low unit costs. Even though the technique has been widely adopted in industry, the literature on its use in microfluidic applications is not large. This paper is the first to report the effects of laser welding on the performance of the heterogeneous immunoassay in a polystyrene microfluidic cartridge in which biomolecules are immobilized into the reaction surface of the cartridge before sealing. The paper compares the immunoassay performance of microfluidic cartridges that are sealed either with an adhesive tape or by use of laser transmission welding. The model analyte used is thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). The results show that the concentration curves in the laser-welded cartridges are very close to the curves in the taped cartridges. This indicates, first, that laser welding does not cause any significant reduction in immunoassay performance, and second, that the polystyrene cover does not have significant effect on the signal levels. Interestingly, the coefficients of variance between parallel samples were lower in the laser-welded cartridges than in the taped cartridges. 相似文献

In higher education dual systems, graduates are qualified to apply for jobs in same professional fields along two separated
educational routes. The research problem is whether the rival applicants for professional positions are treated equally in
the labour market despite their different qualifications. From the graduates point of view, to be equal means to have an opportunity
to be employed in accordance with one’s professional skill. Applying European survey data, the article tests to what extent
the ‘distribution of work’ between university and non-university graduates seems to be based on educational qualifications
or actual competence. Among 4,000 German, Dutch, Finnish, and Swiss graduates primarily in business and administration and
engineering, only slight and occasional evidence of ‘status-based recruitment’ was found. All in all, the research suggests
that from the view of graduate employment, the European dual HE systems work very much following the principle of ‘different
but equal’. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to examine and quantify the cross-sectional associations of body composition (BC), physical activity (PA) and sedentary time (ST) with physical fitness (PF) in children and adolescents. A sample of 594 Finnish students (56% girls), aged 9–15 (12.4?±?1.3 years) were selected for a study performed in 2013. The measurements of the Move! monitoring system for physical functional capacity were used to measure cardiorespiratory and musculoskeletal fitness and fundamental movement skills. Moderate-to-vigorous PA (MVPA) and ST were measured objectively with an accelerometer and BC by a bioelectrical impedance analysis. Fat mass index (FMI) and fat-free mass index (FFMI) were calculated to represent height-adjusted BC. Associations were explored with a linear regression model. In general, FMI had statistically significant negative associations, while FFMI and MVPA had positive associations with PF. No statistically significant associations were observed between ST and PF. In general, FMI had the strongest association with PF, although some variation occurred with sex and PF component. However, associations were practically relevant only in 20-m shuttle run, push-up, curl-up and 5-leaps test. For example, approximately 5?kg increase in fat mass in 155?cm tall children was estimated to correspond to 8 laps in 20-m shuttle run. Similar increase in fat-free mass corresponded to +4 and +6 laps, and 10?min increase in daily MVPA +3 and +2 laps in 20-m shuttle run, in boys and girls, respectively. Understanding these associations is necessary when interpreting children’s PF and designing interventions. 相似文献

A visual culture learning community (VCLC) is an adolescent or young adult group engaged in expression and creation outside of formal institutions and without adult supervision. In the framework of an international, comparative research project executed between 2010 and 2014, members of a variety of eight self‐initiated visual culture groups ranging from manga and cosplay through contemporary art forms, fanart video, graffiti and cosplay in five urban areas (Amsterdam, Budapest, Chicago, Helsinki and Hong Kong) were studied through interview, participant observation and analysis of art works. In this article, collaborative group practices and processes in informal learning environments are presented through results of on‐site observations, interviews and analyses of creations. VCLCs are identified as inspiring, collaborative spaces of peer mentoring that enhance both visual skills and self‐esteem. Authors reveal how identity formation is interrelated with networking and knowledge sharing. Adolescents and young adults become participants of global communities of their creative genres through reinterpretation and individualisation of shared visual repertoires. In conclusion, implications for art education from the VCLC model for creative collaboration are suggested. 相似文献

Conceptions of Quality in Four Different Disciplines 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1

The paper is based on a book(written by the author and his colleague MarkkuLehikoinen) dealing with definitions of qualityand views on the applicability of differentmethods of quality assessment to four differentdisciplinary fields: physics, biology, sociology and history. The paper focuses onconceptions and definitions of quality voicedby scholars representing the differentdisciplines. The study involved semi-structuredin depth interviews with 33 experiencedscholars. The disciplines under study werechosen to represent diverse disciplinarycultures, with the aim of finding out about thepotential impact of (social and cognitive)cultural characteristics of the disciplines onconceptions of quality. The findings show bothcommon views across disciplinary fields anddisciplinary differences. 相似文献

Practical knowledge and skills are necessary components of expertise. Practical training in higher education has been shown
to foster students' learning and understanding of theoretical backgrounds. The attitude and skill of mentors play a central
role in enhancing the quality of students' practical learning. The aims of this study were to explore mentors' experiences
of the practice period and mentoring process, and to develop practical performances to improve the practice period that s
included in theoretical pharmaceutical studies in Finland. A total of 48 pharmacy mentors were interviewed during the practice
period of the pharmacy curriculum. The interviews were analysed using qualitative content analysis. The results showed that
the mentors considered the practice period an essential part of pharmacy studies, which fostered student learning and benefited
the community pharmacy. Mentoring activities, mentoring processes and assessment of students varied in the pharmacies. The
results showed that it is necessary to pay more attention to the aims and the content of the practice period. More cooperation
is needed between the University and pharmacies. There is also a clear need to pay attention to reflective action in order
to foster the quality of practical learning. 相似文献
