Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of sleep deprivation on autonomic and endocrine functions during the day and on exercise tolerance in the evening. Ten healthy young males completed two, 2-day control and sleep deprivation trials. For the control trial, participants were allowed normal sleep from 23:00 to 07:00 h. For the sleep deprivation trial, participants did not sleep for 34 h. Autonomic activity was measured from 19:00 h on day 1 to 16:00 h on day 2 by frequency-domain measures of heart rate variability. Endocrine function was examined by measuring adrenocorticotropic hormone and cortisol from venous blood samples collected on day 2 at 09:00, 13:00, and 17:00 h and immediately after an exercise tolerance testing. Autonomic regulation, particularly parasympathetic regulation estimated from the high-frequency component of heart rate variability analysis, was significantly higher in the sleep deprivation trial than in the control trial in the morning and afternoon of day 2. Plasma adrenocorticotropic hormone concentrations were significantly higher at 09:00 and 13:00 h of day 2 under sleep deprivation. Heart rate during exercise was significantly lower following sleep deprivation. Therefore, the effects of sleep deprivation on autonomic regulation depend on the time of the day.  相似文献

To clarify the physical and mental fatigue caused by intense exercise and the relationship between the two types of fatigue, we examined changes in anthropometric and biochemical variables, neutrophil function, and the Profile of Mood States (POMS) questionnaire in 13 female university judoists attending a one-week training camp. Blood glucose, total cholesterol, haemoglobin, leukocyte count, IgG, and phagocytic activity all decreased after the training camp compared with baseline (P < or = 0.046). Aspartate aminotransferase, lactate dehydrogenase, creatine kinase, and neutrophil oxidative burst activity increased after the training camp (P < or = 0.007). Of the POMS scores, that for Fatigue increased after the training camp (P = 0.041) and that for Vigour decreased (P = 0.042). The changes in several POMS scores correlated with the changes in blood biochemical variables. In particular, the change in Total mood disturbance was negatively associated with changes in myogenic enzymes (P < or = 0.032). Our results suggest that intense exercise during training camps for female judoists leads to the appearance and accumulation of mental and physical fatigue, which are related to each other.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Results of a three year longitudinal study of elementary school children's attitudes toward computers in Japan, Mexico, and the United States of America are presented, along with implications of the findings for teacher education. Two types of attitudes toward computers (importance and enjoyment) were found to be positively influenced by the introduction of computer activities in primary school. No novelty effect was found regarding enjoyment of computers, and perceived computer importance declined less from Grades 1–3 than several other dispositions measured. No consistent gender differences were found for attitudes toward computers among the three nations. These findings imply that students begin school eager to learn about computers and lacking the gender biases often found in older age groups, and that teachers should be educated to help preserve interest in and access to information technology for all students. 波浪交互理论是解决三维多浮体水动力问题的一种有效方法,该方法能正确处理相邻浮体造成的波浪干涉效应,尤其适用于浮体数目较多的场合。文中运用波浪交互理论,对不同间距下一个箱型多浮体系统的水动力问题进行求解,研究其中的关键参数--消逝波模数和傅立叶级数展开项数的变化,对浮体表面压力分布和波浪力等水动力结果所产生的影响,为波浪交互理论在三维多浮体水动力问题上的进一步深入应用提供依据。  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the processes themselves where students appropriated mathematical ideas and to gain an insight into how they can appropriate those cultural ideas. For this purpose, two actual processes where 4th and 5th graders learned cultural practices involving mathematical ideas were closely analyzed, focusing upon the similarities and differences between the standard methods introduced by others and the methods the target students invented during their learning. Such analyses illustrated the following characteristics of their appropriation processes: (a) the students created kinds of hybrids of old ideas they had drawn upon and new ideas introduced by others; (b) when new ideas were presented by others, the students tried to interpret them in the framework of the old ideas they had drawn upon; (c) the students tended to use old ideas or kinds of hybrids until they realized the limits of old ideas and the values of new ideas. These characteristics were also discussed from the viewpoint of resistance and active learning observed in the intramental effects of intermental functioning.  相似文献
