This essay examines the relationships between football and art in Poland since the launch of the first 1921 Polish Football Championship until 2012, when the European Cup was held in Poland and Ukraine, testifying to a veritable craze for the national game, and cementing football’s place in cultural discourse. From pre-war painterly references to football, through Neo-avant-garde tendencies in the 1970s, to young Polish art, football has signified multiple meanings within national/transnational and gender discourse. Through the lens of artistic references to football this paper aims to comment on the cultural and social conditions around masculinity and star culture, and to reflect the broader social and political currents of contemporary Poland. 相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of dry-land inertial training (IT) on muscle force, muscle power, and swimming performance. Fourteen young, national-level, competitive swimmers were randomly divided into IT and control (C) groups. The experiment lasted four weeks, during which time both groups underwent their regular swimming training. In addition, the IT group underwent IT using the Inertial Training Measurement System (ITMS) three times per week. The muscle groups involved during the upsweep phase of the arm stroke in front crawl and butterfly stroke were trained. Before and after training, muscle force and power were measured under IT conditions. Simultaneously with the biomechanical measurements on the ITMS, the electrical activity of the triceps brachii was registered. After four weeks of training, a 12.8% increase in the muscle force and 14.2% increase in the muscle power (p?<?.05) were noted in the IT group. Moreover, electromyography amplitude of triceps brachii recorded during strength measurements increased by 22.7% in the IT group. Moreover, swimming velocity in the 100?m butterfly and 50?m freestyle improved significantly following the four weeks of dry-land IT (?1.86% and ?0.76%, respectively). Changes in the C group were trivial. Moreover, values of force and power registered during the ITMS test correlated negatively with the 100?m butterfly and 50?m freestyle swimming times (r value ranged from ?.80 to ?.91). The paper concerns compressed sensing methods in the quaternion algebra. We prove that it is possible to uniquely reconstruct – by ?1 norm minimization – a sparse quaternion signal from a limited number of its real linear measurements, provided the measurement matrix satisfies so-called restricted isometry property with a sufficiently small constant. The overall aim of this study is to review problems relating to the acculturation of Ukrainian students during their initial period of study abroad in Poland. More importantly, our objective was to recognize the fears and difficulties these students experience and examine the strategies of coping with major stressors. Based on group interviews we identified four themes, which mainly related to the language barrier, social isolation, discrimination, and financial issues. Our results show that the main acculturation strategy among the students in our sample was integration rather than assimilation, marginalization, or separation. Our respondents actively sought contacts with the locals, for example, by giving up their living quarters in the socially isolated and remote university campus and renting shared accommodation in the city, which made it possible for them to maintain closer links with their Ukrainian friends and to receive social support while also staying open to establishing relationships with Poles and having more opportunities to improve their Polish. At the same time, these students maintained their contacts with family and friends abroad through the Internet. This study also suggests the ways for higher education institutions to improve the services rendered to international students and to support their integration into a new community. 相似文献

In this paper we have examined the position and roles of Computer Science in curricula in the light of recent calls for curriculum change and we have proposed principles and issues to consider in curriculum design as well as identifying priority areas for further research. The paper is based on discussions within and beyond the International Federation of Information Processing (IFIP) Education Community since 2012 as well as an analysis of curriculum developments in five different countries. Emerging themes have been discussed with reference to important perspectives from curriculum theory including “powerful knowledge” as a key element of entitlement and management of the growth of expertise. Based on this analysis we have identified areas of consensus as well as constraints, risks and issues that are still subject to controversy. There is an emerging consensus of the importance of Computer Science and the nature of its “powerful knowledge”. Furthermore current understanding of the opportunities and benefits for starting to learn Computer Science early in primary schools has identified this early start as an entitlement and equity issue. There is a strong consensus that teacher professional development in Computer Science Education is critical for supporting curriculum change and is currently a major challenge in many countries. Other key issues include understanding how the growth of expertise affects potential structure and sequencing in the curriculum and the balance of content. Further considerations include how new technological opportunities interact with pedagogical approaches and can provide new potential for the growth of expertise. 相似文献
