P2P systems are categorized into tree-based and mesh-based systems according to their topologies. Mesh-based systems are considered more suitable for large-scale Internet applications, but require optimization on latency issue. This paper proposes a content subscribing mechanism (CSM) to eliminate unnecessary time delays during data relaying. A node can send content data to its neighbors as soon as it receives the data segment. No additional time is taken during the interactive stages prior to data segment transmission of streaming content. CSM consists of three steps. First, every node records its historical segments latency, and adopts gamma distribution, which possesses powerful expression ability, to express latency statistics. Second, a node predicts subscribing success ratio of every neighbor by comparing the gamma distribution parameters of the node and its neighbors before selecting a neighbor node to subscribe a data segment. The above steps would not increase latency as they are executed before the data segments are ready at the neighbor nodes. Finally, the node, which was subscribed to, sends the subscribed data segment to the subscriber immediately when it has the data segment. Experiments show that CSM significantly reduces the content data transmission latency.  相似文献

The effect of wind environment is becoming increasingly important in analyzing and selecting sites for better natural ventilation of residential buildings, external comfort, and pollution dispersion. The main purpose of this study was to develop a set of methods for wind environment assessment in coastal concave terrains. This set of methods can be used to provide quantifiable indicators of preferable wind conditions and help site analysis. Firstly, a total of 20 types of coastal bays with concave terrains in East Asia were characterized to find ideal locations. The selected areas were divided into five categories according to the main terrain features. Then a sample database for the concave terrains was compiled for modelling comparisons. Secondly, a number of key wind variables were identified. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models of the typical coastal concave terrains identified as a result of the study were created, and the local wind environments were simulated with input from geographic information system (GIS) and statistic package for social science (SPSS) analysis. A measure of wind suitability was proposed that takes wind velocity and wind direction into account using GIS. Finally, SPSS was used to find the relationship between wind suitability and key terrain factors. The results showed that wind suitability was significantly associated with terrain factors, especially altitude. The results suggest that residential building sites should be selected such that their bay openings face the direction of the prevailing wind and that the opposite direction should be avoided.  相似文献

Microfluidic paper-based analytical devices (μPADs) are widely used for performing diagnostic assays. However, in many assays, time-delay valves are required to improve the sensitivity and specificity of the results. Accordingly, this study presents a simple, low-cost method for realizing time-delay valves using a color wax printing process. In the proposed approach, the time-delay effect is controlled through a careful selection of both the color and the saturation of the wax content. The validity of the proposed method is demonstrated by performing nitrite and oxalate assays using both a simple two-dimensional μPAD and a three-dimensional μPAD incorporating a colored wax-printed timer. The experimental results confirm that the flow time can be controlled through an appropriate selection of the color and the wax content. In addition, it is shown that nitrite and oxalate assays can be performed simultaneously on a single device. In general, the results presented in this study show that the proposed μPADs provide a feasible low-cost alternative to conventional methods for performing diagnostic assays.  相似文献

Droplet-based microfluidics has shown potential in high throughput single cell assays by encapsulating individual cells in water-in-oil emulsions. Ordering cells in a micro-channel is necessary to encapsulate individual cells into droplets further enhancing the assay efficiency. This is typically limited due to the difficulty of preparing high-density cell solutions and maintaining them without cell aggregation in long channels (>5 cm). In this study, we developed a short pinched flow channel (5 mm) to separate cell aggregates and to form a uniform cell distribution in a droplet-generating platform that encapsulated single cells with >55% encapsulation efficiency beating Poisson encapsulation statistics. Using this platform and commercially available Sox substrates (8-hydroxy-5-(N,N-dimethylsulfonamido)-2-methylquinoline), we have demonstrated a high throughput dynamic single cell signaling assay to measure the activity of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) in lung cancer cells triggered by cell surface ligand binding. The phosphorylation of the substrates resulted in fluorescent emission, showing a sigmoidal increase over a 12 h period. The result exhibited a heterogeneous signaling rate in individual cells and showed various levels of drug resistance when treated with the tyrosine kinase inhibitor, gefitinib.  相似文献
