Hospital and corporate information services: introducing a new column

Successful hospital and corporate libraries offer customized resources and services to meet the needs of their dynamic organizations. Concepts such as customer-driven, service-oriented and value-added are central to these libraries. Serving decision makers and integrating the library into the decision-making process of the organization is critical. Quan Zuwang and Zhang Xuecheng were both bibliognosts of Qing Dynasty. In Quan s theory of bibliography, there is neither the connotation of enlightenment thought nor the ideological content of, what is called the Yi Wen Xue An in Zhang s bibliographical thinking, which, together with his literary and historical thinking has reciprocal outward show and inner thought. He had founded the theory of new bibliography and developed a school of his own. Review of criteria used to measure library effectiveness

This article reports the results of a survey of literature on measures of library effectiveness. This survey led to the formulation of six criterion concepts (accessibility, cost, user satisfaction, response time, cost/benefit ratio, and use). The advantages and disadvantages of each method of measurement are discussed. Several points which became clear during the analysis are discussed. First, there is a relative lack of concern with the rationale behind the evaluation process, although the results invariably lead to a confused interpretation when there is no clear understanding of the purpose of an evaluation. Second, the total library system is rarely considered; instead, each evaluation criterion is taken in isolation rather than as part of the whole. Third, the library's preservation function has not been considered at all.  相似文献

The preliminary building program suggested in this paper makes use of outlines, graphs, charts, and lists, rather than long-winded paragraphs, to describe the needs, objectives, and philosophy of the library. Analysis of recorded biomedical book and journal use in the Yale Medical Library. II. Subject and user relations

Cancelled charge slips collected over a one-year period supply the data for this analysis of circulation in the Yale Medical Library. Full-time teaching faculty are the heaviest users of journal literature, and students, of monograph literature. Faculties of Medical School departments are compared in terms of their use of material in individual subjects. Subject literatures are analyzed in terms of groups of users borrowing from them. The extent to which journal titles used by medical students are also used by Medical School faculty is examined. One of the products of the study is a rank list of journal titles used in the Library. 本文介绍了自行研制的三种划水板和国外两种划水板及其在风洞内进行的测力实验,以了解分析其不同的流体动力特征;对板面开孔与无孔吹风测力、板面有或无稳流板条及板条分布的测试结果,为新型划水板的设计提供了理论依据。研究发现,螺旋曲面扭转结构的自制板对运动员手掌最佳对水倾斜角有诱导修正作用,能帮助运动员建立良好的技术,提高“水感”,获得理想的划水效果。实验结果表明以上观点是可以肯定的。  相似文献

EPIC is a service that provides keyword or subject access to the OCLC Online Union Catalog (OLUC). This capability increases the success rate for title location as well as the potential uses of the OLUC. The features of the EPIC system, application of these features to the OLUC, and specific uses in health sciences libraries are described in this article.  相似文献
