This article describes results of a national survey of rehabilitation educators concerning their perceptions of their knowledge adequacies and training needs. Twelve vital instructional areas were identified and respondents were asked to rate each area for their adequacy of knowledge, need for inservice training, and willingness to attend inservice training. Findings showed that educators rated their knowledge adequacy high and their need for inservice training low. Although there was a significant inverse relationship between knowledge adequacy and need for inservice training, there was no significant relationship between willingness to attend inservice training and knowledge adequacy, or between willingness to attend inservice training and need for inservice training.  相似文献

This article reports the results of a study in which 102 American Indian 11th and 12th grade high school students rated 7 dimensions of perceived counselor credibility and utility. Results indicated that Indian counselors were perceived as more effective than non-Indian counselors and that the non-directive, “facilitative” verbal response style was rated as less effective than either a directive or a cultural/experimental style.  相似文献

The Collaborative Cohort Model (CCM) for research supervision was developed and piloted as an alternative to the Apprentice Master Model (AMM), which is currently used with most doctoral dissertations. The CCM was developed in response to concerns about completion rates and the quality of research supervision. This article proposes that in a context where the roles assigned to academics are increasingly complex, where academic work is visibly managed and monitored with an emphasis on teaching quality and professionalised practices, better understandings of academic identities might emerge from a focus on the teaching dimension of the academic role. It seeks to capture this dimension through a theoretical framework that takes account of the context and realities in which academics operate.
It examines this complexity through a set of policy initiatives aimed at enhancing the teaching function in UK universities, and a brief report on a study of 18 UK academics focusing on the nature of academic labour. It argues that the teaching dimension of the academic role cannot be usefully studied from outside the context in which academics evolve and construct their apprehensions of teaching practice, and without paying attention to the degree of agency available to them in the context where they operate. It points to the negative impact of competing initiatives directed disjointedly at teaching and research.  相似文献

ZUSAMMENFASSUNG

The teaching of probability theory and statistics to engineering students should contain non-trivial real life examples of how randomness enters complex modelling. The present paper contains such an example in the form of the sugar-candy (Kompeitoh) process. It is shown how ideas from urn modelling are relevant. The final solution is a combination of analytic theory and simulation methodology.

Der Unterricht in Wahrscheinlichkeitstheorie und Statistik für Ingenieurstudenten soil nicht-triviale Beispiele aus dem wirklichen Leben enthalten und zeigen, wie der Zufall in komplexe Modelle einbezogen werden kann. Die vorliegende Arbeit enthält ein solches Beispiel in Form eines Kandiszuckers (Kompeitoh) Prozesses. Es wird gezeigt, wieweit das Urnenmodell hier angewendet werden kann. Die Lösung ist eine Kombination von analytischer Theorie und Simulationsmethodologie.  相似文献
