The present study explored South Korean prospective early childhood educators’ situation-specific meta-cognitive knowledge about five problem-solving strategies, investigating whether situated strategic knowledge contributed to teacher self-efficacy domains. Overall, pre-service teachers with higher meta-cognitive knowledge were found to have higher teacher self-efficacy, but the strength of correlations differed according to types of strategies (free production, analogy, step-by-step analysis, visualisation and combining) and situations (interpersonal, practical, study). Through multiple regressions, meta-cognitive knowledge of the strategy-free production in practical situations emerged as the most powerful contributor to all teacher self-efficacy domains. With meta-cognitive knowledge of free production in practical situations as a domain-general predictor, each teacher self-efficacy domain was also found to involve a unique set of meta-cognitive features as contributors. The facets of the predictors imply that combinations of relevant strategic knowledge contribute to confidence in specific teaching domains.  相似文献

We propose a method suitable for analysis of cross-sectional studies with complex sampling and continuous variables. The method consists of R + 4 steps, where R denotes the number of replications. In the first R + 1 step, the main and R replicate weights are used (one at a time) to estimate the product of coefficients for all mediation effects using a structural equation model. In step R + 2, the standard errors of these estimates are computed via balanced repeated replications. In step R + 3, the raw p values corresponding to mediation effects are computed based on the generalized Sobel’s tests. In the final step, R + 4, the p values are adjusted for multiplicity and statistical inferences regarding mediation effects are drawn. To illustrate the approach we examined significance of attitudes toward smoking bans as mediators in the association between smoking restrictions at work and nicotine dependence among male daily smokers.  相似文献

A video game's plot is one of its defining features, and prior research confirms the importance of plot metadata to users through persona analysis, interviews, and surveys. However, existing organizational systems, including library catalogs, game-related websites, and traditional plot classification systems, do not adequately describe the plot information of video games, in other words, what the game is really about. We attempt to address the issue by creating a controlled vocabulary based on a domain analysis involving a review of relevant literature and existing data structures. The controlled vocabulary is constructed in a pair structure for maximizing flexibility and extensibility. Adopting this controlled vocabulary for describing plot information of games will allow for useful search and collocation of video games.  相似文献

This study reexamined the concept of interactivity and proposed that interactivity be defined as the extent to which the communicator and the audience respond to each other's communication need. Interactivity was construed as consisting of five dimensions: 1) playfulness, 2) choice, 3) connectedness, 4) information collection, and 5) reciprocal communication. Web sites for products, services, and retail outlets appeared to differ significantly in terms of connectedness, information collection, and reciprocal communication.  相似文献

This article identifies the business models of leading Webcasters in the United States and South Korea and proposes a cross-cultural framework to analyze the determinants of business models. The file transmission methods, content strategies, and revenue sources of clicks-and-bricks and pure-play Webcasters were compared in the study. After analyzing the business practices of 48 leading Webcasters--using a content analysis of their sites--we found that the content aggregator model and the branded content model are the 2 most commonly used business models of leading Webcasters in the United States and South Korea. Although clicks-and-bricks and pure-play Webcasters in both countries have a similar reliance on advertising as their major source of revenue, they employ different content strategies to their own media's advantages. Korean Webcasters are more likely to use pay-per-view as a revenue source than U.S. Webcasters.  相似文献

We propose a new model of the factors influencing acceptance of evolutionary theory that highlights a novel variable unexplored in previous studies: the feeling of certainty (FOC). The model is grounded in an emerging understanding of brain function that acknowledges the contributions of intuitive cognitions in making decisions, such as whether or not to accept a particular theoretical explanation of events. Specifically, we examine the relationships among religious identity, level of education, level of knowledge, FOC, and level of evolutionary acceptance to test whether our proposed model accurately predicts hypothesized pathways. We employ widely used measures—the CINS, MATE, and ORI—in addition to new variables in multiple regression and path analyses in order to test the interrelationships among FOC and acceptance of evolutionary theory. We explore these relationships using a sample of 124 pre‐service biology teachers found to display comparable knowledge and belief levels as reported in previous studies on this topic. All of our hypothesis tests corroborated the idea that FOC plays a moderating role in relationships among evolutionary knowledge and beliefs. Educational research into acceptance of evolutionary theory will likely benefit from increased attention to non‐conscious intuitive cognitions that give rise to feeling of knowing or certainty. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
