Children's dependence upon visual context in sentence comprehension

This study explored the manner in which young children utilize meaning clues implicit in nonlinguistic aspects of context to aid comprehension of difficult sentences. Comprehension of reversible passive sentences was measured for the degree to which visual context could be helpful to sentence understanding. Results indicated a strong reliance on visual cues by children from three to seven years of age. The use of visual aids as a means of helping children develop comprehension strategies is suggested.  相似文献   

Sanitizing the Struggle: Barack Obama,Selma, and Civil Rights Memory

In this article, I examine Barack Obama’s use of collective memory during his 2007 campaign speech in Selma, Alabama. Specifically, I argue that Obama appeals to collective memory to challenge the Black community’s relationship to the past. He reframed the memory of the Civil Rights Movement in a manner favorable to his political aspirations. While this frame was politically expedient, it weakened Black political agency. It robbed the Black community of crucial rhetorical resources used to challenge structural inequalities in society. This article offers insight into the complex relationship between metaphor and collective memory. Specifically, I interrogate the role of metaphor as a crucial site where public memory is formed, disrupted, and rearticulated. Furthermore, I consider the implications of his use of memory for the future of the Black freedom struggle.  相似文献   

College/University Counseling Centers Supporting Study Away: Challenges and Opportunities

Research points to significant numbers of students on college campuses experiencing mental health distress and an ever increasing number of college students who are choosing to make an off-campus educational experience a part of their college careers. When we consider both of these trends together, it is quite apparent that a significant number of students with mental health concerns will spend periods of time studying away from campus, with converging concerns among college mental health and study away professionals about how to best support these students. This article seeks to outline both challenges and opportunities inherent in the collaboration between campus professionals in supporting students with mental health issues before and during their study away experiences.  相似文献

摘要：第65届美国运动医学年会精彩纷呈,吸引了来自全球70多个国家的6000余名运动科学、临床医学等领域的学者参会,中国大陆地区也有上百名学者参加会议。年会的两场主报告分别是“体力活动对癌症的预防与治疗：证据现状”和“体力活动行为改变和健康促进的历史与亮点”。与年会同时举办的第九届“运动是良医全球大会”和“肌肉肥大与萎缩基础科学全球大会”。年会亮点之一是全面解读了最新发布的2018年美国人体力活动指南专家咨询委员会（2018 Physical Activity Guidelines Advisory Committee,2018PAGAC）科学报告。此是在2008PAGAC科学报告的基础上审读近10年运动科学领域中研究成果后完成的,将为美国联邦政府制定第2版体力活动指南提供依据。2018PAGAC科学报告提供了运动科学领域新的研究成果,梳理了静坐少动行为与疾病的关系,对今后运动科学的研究提出了一系列的建议。认真学习领会2018PAGAC科学报告将对我国科学健身领域的研究和成果应用提供有益借鉴。  相似文献

粮食安全是国家安全的重要保障。东北黑土区是我国重要的商品粮生产基地,在保障国家粮食安全中起到"压舱石"的作用。但由于该区域耕地的高强度、不合理或过度利用造成了严峻的黑土退化问题。因此,如何使黑土地粮仓高效、可持续地为国家粮食安全提供保障,是当前亟待解决的科学问题。文章系统梳理了改革开放以来黑土地粮仓的农业发展状况;在此基础上,系统总结了黑土地粮食生产可持续发展所面临的问题,并结合中央对东北地区农业生产要求,提出了协调粮食安全和生态安全、增强粮食生产可持续发展的相应对策。以期为东北黑土区农业可持续发展提供参考,为国家粮食战略部署、农业政策制定及国家粮食安全稳固等提供科学指导。  相似文献

Fast-food is always the one of the main culture in America just like it has been known.It is not only very important in Americans’lives,but can reflect some of their outlooks on life.This thesis gives an analysis of reflection of Americans’outlooks on life in fast-food culture.Five types of Americans’outlooks on life have been surveyed:working hard and playing hard,optimism and open-mindedness,treating the time as the life,self-independence and believing the equality.Beginning with the introduction of the emergence and development of fast-food culture in America,the thesis brings why the fast-food can be popularized among Americans to light.Consequently,we can find that some of the Americans’outlooks on life can be consistent with their fast-food culture.This thesis will be divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction and the last conclusion.The focus of this thesis is laid on the two middle parts which first display the five types of Americans’outlooks on life,then give the analysis of the reflection in fast-food culture.This thesis attempts to explore the Americans’outlooks on life.Although by the thesis we can not learn about a nation completely,we still know some aspects of their outlooks on life from fast-food culture.Key words:outlook;Americans;fast-food;culture  相似文献

研究目的：为茉莉酸甲酯诱导来提高茶叶香气品质提供理论依据,为新型花香红茶的研制提供技术支持。创新要点：首次将茉莉酸甲酯应用于诱导茶叶香气品质提高,初步验证了茶叶香气品质提高的本质原因：相关酶活性提高,基因表达上调。研究方法：采用顶空固相微萃取法（HS-SPME）对红茶香气进行富集,气相色谱-质谱联用仪（GC-MS）进行解吸附分析,实时定量多聚酶链式反应（qRT-PCR）分析茶鲜叶中香气相关酶基因表达。重要结论：茉莉酸甲酯诱导后的茶鲜叶中多酚氧化酶（PPO）活性上升,β-葡萄糖苷酶活性下降;PPO和β-樱草糖苷酶基因表达上调,β-葡萄糖苷酶基因表达下调。茉莉酸甲酯诱导后的茶鲜叶能明显提高由其制成的红茶香气品质,且萜烯醇类和萜烯类含量明显提高。  相似文献

“黑哨”行为的法律性质及其规治

“黑哨”行为是指裁判员在体育比赛执法过程中故意不遵行竞赛规则、规程和裁判法、违背体育精神和执业道德,违反体育法律法规条例章程的规定而作出不公正判罚的行为。导致“黑哨”行为的原因多样,但其与受贿不存在必然联系,与“受贿”行为存在本质区别。“黑哨”行为是一种具有特定社会危害性的行为：对比赛各直接利益相关方均产生消极影响和不利后果;破坏了国家公平公正的裁判员制度;损害了体育运动的健康发展。依据其社会危害性和违法性的不同程度,“黑哨”行为应当受到行业内部纪律处罚或体育行政处罚或刑事处罚。  相似文献
