Evaluation criteria for competency-based syllabi: a Chilean case study applying mixed methods

In recent decades, higher education institutions worldwide have been moving from knowledge-based to competence-based curricula. One of the greatest challenges in this transition is the difficulty in changing the knowledge-oriented practices of teachers. This study evaluates the consistency between syllabus design and the requirements imposed by a competence-based learning environment. To make this comparison, the study sets four criteria (C1: explicit relationship between syllabus and graduate profile; C2: precision of the learning outcomes and assessment criteria; C3: contents that mobilise the learning outcomes; and C4: learning and assessment activities) derived from the literature and a thematic analysis of competence-based learning in higher education. Afterwards, a sample of 150 syllabi from different disciplines of five Chilean public universities were analysed, all of which stated the use of learning outcomes and competences in their learning models. Using a three-point Likert scale derived from the aforementioned criteria and their indicators, a comparison was made between the actual practices reflected in the syllabus design and the previously established criteria. Results show a gap between the declaration of a competency-based curriculum and actual syllabus outlines. Moreover, there are important differences among disciplines. Although all disciplines present high levels of accomplishment for Criteria 1 and 3, only the discipline of health sciences presents an acceptable level for Criteria 2 and 4. It is recommended that further research be undertaken towards identifying effective competency-based syllabus design.  相似文献

克服语文教学的随意性,追求确定性的课程内容,是我国语文教育界应继续努力的方向。1956年中小学语文分科教学大纲的核心便是追求语文课程内容的确定性。其编制的经验和教训说明:没有课程内容支撑的课程目标,必定落空;不指向课程目标的课程内容,绝不是合适的内容;课程目标变化,必然要求课程内容做相应的调整;课程内容不变,变化了的课程目标注定不可能实现。这也提示我们:语文课程标准的研制,要把重心放到课程目标的支撑研究上,放到课程内容的目标指向研究上,尤其要做好具体项目的研制这一基础工作。  相似文献

纵观20世纪上半叶语文学科高中作文教学发展轨迹,大体可以作出这样的划分:1.以1902年《钦定学堂章程》和1904年《奏定学堂章程》颁布为标志的开端期;2.以1912年《中学校令施行规则》和1913年《中学校课程标准》颁布为标志的初建期;3.以1923年《新学制课程标准纲要.高级中学公共必修的国语课程纲要》为标志的确立期;4.以1929年《高级中学普通科国文暂行课程标准》为标志的发展期。纵览20世纪下半叶到21世纪初的作文教学变革轨迹,大体可以做出这样的划分:50年代至60年代中期,是作文教学的探索与新建期;60年代中期至70年代,是作文教学的挫折与恢复期;80年代至90年代初,是作文教学的发展与成型期;90年代中期至新世纪初,是作文教学的改革与转型期。  相似文献   

Education of Teachers in the Field of Teaching Natural Science Is Lagging behind the Requirements of the Inclusion of Pupils with Special Needs

ABSTRACT

In this theoretical study, we combined two approaches regarding the education of teachers in the field of teaching pupils with special needs with focus on teaching natural science topics, in Slovenia and in the Part of Northern Cyprus, respectively. We analysed syllabuses for different study programmes for teachers in primary schools in selected faculties in Slovenia. We focused on the specific content in those subjects, which are developing competences of students to be able to teach natural science topics, in particular physics topics, in primary schools in the adequate way, so the pupils with special needs can achieve the same goals as the other pupils. In addition, we included some accents regarding the children with special needs from approach to this topic at Near East University. We find out that the integrated content in the study programmes for the requirements of the inclusion of pupils with special needs in primary school is not sufficient or the inclusion in primary schools is planned too broad, if we take into account the current state of knowledge of the students in this specific field.  相似文献

国家教育部印发的现行《中等职业学校语文教学大纲》中的若干概念运用不当。就中职教育的特性来讲,"欣赏"不应作为"职业模块"的关键概念;从逻辑上说,"阅读"、"表达"、"交流"不属同一层次,不应杂糅并列;以学生的需要而论,"复述"应改为"口述","应聘"应改为"求职;"就文件性质而言,"教学大纲"应改称"课程与教学纲领"。建议及时补救。  相似文献
