ABSTRACT

Information technology services and programs at the University of New Mexico are delivered by a mixture of distributed and centralized operations. Collaborations between the distributed services, largely in academic areas, as well as with central Information Technologies have been developed largely around point of need, historical arrangements, and personal interests. Recent changes in the leadership for Academic Affairs, the Office of the Vice President for Research, Information Technologies, and the University Libraries provided an opportunity for evaluating the current state and proposing new ways of working together. The authors describe several collaborations where the University Libraries have engaged with campus units in developing new or improved service and approaches to working together.  相似文献

图书馆云信息服务等级协议(ISLA)通过量化参数以客观地测量服务的质量。综合云QoS参数管理的形式及典型的SLA参数,结合DigiQUAL+TM的研究方法,参考QoS的4个审视角度,以环境质量、交互质量与感知质量维度为研究对象,构建图书馆云服务质量概念模型,并通过实证来检验与修正概念模型。研究结果发现,服务透明度、资源安全、响应速度、服务时间、共享性、合作性、责任管理和保障管理是ISLA的关键参数指标;图书馆云服务中资源的安全性、服务的保障性对图书馆云用户使用图书馆云服务起着关键性的作用。  相似文献

Abstract

Handheld computers are quickly becoming a ubiquitous tool in medicine. Factors that have spurred the rapid adoption of this technology in medicine include convenience and ease of use, mobility, and the enormous library of medical applications now available. Health sciences libraries in both hospitals and academic medical centers are actively promoting and supporting PDAs as a natural extension of their services. Medical libraries have quickly adopted this technology to deliver medical information in a non-traditional way. This paper discusses approaches being used to incorporate PDAs into library services and examines the impact of those approaches on the medical reference librarian.  相似文献

This article explores factors that contribute to low participation rates in computing and information technology (CIT) courses in senior secondary school, particularly for females. Partly drawing on the Values-Expectancy Theory the following variables are explored separately and within a single model: gender, ability and values beliefs, access and use at home and at school. As well as presenting results consistent with current literature, an inclusive and eclectic model is developed. The model indicates that, in addition to gender and the student's beliefs about the value of the subjects, plans to take CIT subjects are also affected by the amount of use of IT at school. These school-related factors are inter-connected either directly or indirectly with students' beliefs about their IT abilities at both schooland home, as well as the amount of use at home. For educators who seek to improve participation rates, particularly for females, theidentification of school-related variables is encouraging, as the school – unlike the home – is a relatively accessible site of intervention.  相似文献

This article explores the implementation of various K–12 one-to-one computing initiatives to determine if patterns exist. These initiatives are funded in times of limited resources and constitute a serious investment in technology for the schools and districts adopting them. The goals of this study were to understand how and why one-to-one computing initiatives are being implemented, how these initiatives are funded and supported, and expectations or assumptions of stakeholders that are driving adoption of this type of technology. The results suggest that these school districts, and those like them, will face many challenges—some financial, some technical, and some procedural—as they work to integrate technology into instruction and assessment. Common themes or challenges identified from this work, and linked with previous research, include leadership and vision, funding, teacher professional development, and project evaluation.  相似文献

Abstract

This study is a review of a program and an endeavor that sought to examine the effects of preparing prospective teachers in the skills and abilities of action research, utilizing technological resources, and determining the impact of that upon teacher education efforts. A cohort of secondary student teachers were taught and prepared in the processes and activities associated with action research, a means of identifying one's own issues and concerns with teaching and conducting a valuable study and examination of those issues. They were asked to organize, prepare, present, and evaluate their research activities by utilizing technology and demonstrating these results. Finally, they were asked to evaluate the implications that this effort had on their teacher education program and professional development.  相似文献

基于远程教育和终身教育理论,通过相关文献及研究的查阅,首先分析了现有网络教学平台普遍存在的四个问题,主要包括:学习课程单向性、教学方式缺乏互动性、学习评价缺乏真实性、学习方式缺乏灵活性;设计了一个适合各种学习终端接入、适应不同教学情境的实时互动网络教学平台,主要由内容运营平台、实时服务平台和终端服务三个子系统组成的,然后对教学节目单管理、协作平台、版权保护三个关键技术的实现进行了阐述,提出了学习者身份确认、学习注意力监测、插播测试及评价的功能模块,为开放课程学习的学分认证和认可做好技术准备,最后探讨了平台的应用情境与方式。  相似文献
