Inconsistent presentation of journal information in the online environment presents barriers to researchers. Presentation and Identification of E-Journals (PIE-J), a National Information Standards Organization (NISO) working group, is developing a recommended practice that is designed to reduce this confusion by recommending that online journals offer clear presentations of journal title, enumeration, International Standard Serial Number (ISSN), and other standard citation elements. In cases where titles have changed over time, these elements should be presented as they were valid at the time of initial publication. The International Organization for Standardization's ISO 8, a broader international standard on the presentation of periodicals is in the early stages of revision to bring it up to date, particularly to include guidance about online periodicals. Once both documents are finalized and implemented, PIE-J and ISO 8 compliant publications will be presented optimally for discovery and use. 相似文献

Internet workshops and other classes involving online tools can be made more effective through the use of presentation graphics software. Such software allows presenters to snapshot and modify screens of computer information. They can then highlight the information paths and techniques they want the audience to be aware of and, during the presentation, can click through the captured screens without having to worry about typing errors, slow response time, or other computer glitches. Presentation software is ideal for presentations using computer projectors, but can also be helpful in other contexts. The learning object remains an ill-defined concept, despite numerous and extensive discussion in the literature. This paper
attempts to address this problem by providing a classification that potentially brings together various perspectives of what
a learning object may be. Six unique types of learning objects are proposed and discussed: presentation, practice, simulation,
conceptual models, information and contextual representation objects. The common characteristics of each are synthesized in
a proposal that a learning object is best described as a representation designed to afford uses in different educational contexts.
The classification of learning objects proposed could be useful as a framework for designers of digital resources and for
those engaged in use of these resources in educational contexts.
