Toward Developing a Cross-Cultural Metacognition Instrument for Listening in First Language (L1) Contexts: The (Janusik-Keaton) Metacognitive Listening Instrument

This study has three main goals: (1) to test an instrument designed to measure first language metacognitive listening strategies in other cultural contexts, (2) to refine and revise the scale if necessary, and (3) to discern whether the notion that first language listeners use intuitive strategies to make meaning regardless of language is supported. Toward these goals, authors developed the Intercultural Metacognitive Listening Strategies Instrument, which displays evidence of validity in four populations and three distinct cultures: the United States, Germany, and Japan. Ultimately, this study supports the notion that there are intuitive strategies that listeners use to make meaning regardless of language.  相似文献   

Exploration of teachers' awareness and knowledge of (Central) Auditory Processing Disorder ((C)APD)

The aim of this study was to explore primary school teachers' awareness and knowledge of (Central) Auditory Processing Disorder ((C)APD). Teachers' awareness and knowledge are crucial for initial recognition and appropriate referral of children suspected of having (C)APD. When a child is diagnosed with (C)APD, teachers have a role in implementing and monitoring the effectiveness of interventions. A questionnaire was designed and distributed to 53 primary schools in the Republic of Ireland. Findings indicated that 89.1% of participants reported poor/very poor awareness, while 92% reported poor/very poor knowledge of (C)APD. Results were compared with specific data obtained from a similar study carried out simultaneously in Northern Ireland. Overall, the majority of the participants reported that they have poor/very poor awareness and knowledge of (C)APD. These findings emphasise the need to establish training programmes for teachers and ultimately to support the provision of an appropriate service for children with (C)APD.  相似文献

Abstract

Establishing Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) Chinese Japanese Korean (CJK) NACO, BIBCO, CONSER, and SACO funnels grew out of the PCC’s strategy of engaging and inclusion of diverse membership, and the commitment of the Council on East Asian Libraries (CEAL) to collaboration with PCC, the Library of Congress, and the American Library Association. Together, PCC CJK funnels and CEAL’s Committee on Technical Processing (CTP) have been taking leadership roles in contributing quality metadata, developing CJK-specific training programs, participating in the development of PCC policies and best practices, and engaging in international collaborations. This article discusses challenges the CJK funnels and CEAL CTP have faced and strategies taken in this ongoing collaborative endeavor.  相似文献

基于Sobel算子的边缘检测算法研究

本文针对传统Sobel算子对图像处理效果不理想现象的分析,以及对噪声敏感的缺点进行深入研究,提出将分母可更改的改进算法与四方向模版的Sobel算子的检测算法相结合,从而更好的实现图像的边缘检测。实验结果表明,该方法从图像中进行边缘检测的实际效果好,而且计算简单、实时性强,极大的提高了边缘检测的准确性。  相似文献
