Barriers to the identification of gifted students from traditionally underserved groups have been well documented. Although contemporary definitions of giftedness give heed to both performance and potential, the literature provides little concrete direction for how “potential” can be recognized, particularly in underperforming students who have lacked access to the kind of high-quality, personally relevant, and appropriately challenging curriculum likely to bring their talents to the fore. It is argued that high-quality curriculum can serve as an effective catalyst for the emergence of diverse talent but that such an objective must be a deliberate focus of curriculum planning. The “Famous Five” exercise presented in this article is a heuristic procedure that has been used with experienced educators and is designed to stimulate the thinking of curriculum developers as they design opportunities for unmasking diverse gifted potential. 相似文献

企业大学的产生与发展是知识经济社会企业向学习型组织转变的重要条件和标示,也是现代企业对一种专属教育的诉求结果.受到母体企业的规制,企业大学表现出多样化的形态和目标,因此当下有代表性的企业大学定义以"过程"、"战略伞"等宽泛的术语为核心,表现出较大的包容性;也有的定义突出企业大学作为"教育实体"的存在,将企业大学与企业培训部门清晰地区分开来.各企业大学虽各不相同,但也遵循某些共同的基本原则,形成一个相对普适的企业大学模式. 相似文献

For many years, practitioners have heard that middle level teachers are teachers of reading. As the standards movement gains strength, it is even more crucial that teachers explicitly teach key vocabulary that makes their students “insiders” when it comes to understanding the content areas. This article reminds the reader of the principles for vocabulary development, followed by “high utility” strategies that works well for early adolescents. Small colleges and universities, often late adopters of institutional repositories and open access initiatives, face challenges that have not fully been explored in the professional literature. In an effort to gauge the level of awareness of open access and institutional repositories at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire (UWEC), the authors of this article surveyed fellow faculty members at this small liberal arts university before the 2011 Open Access Week. The survey results reveal that faculty members at UWEC do not share the same level of awareness concerning open access and institutional repositories that was found in the existing scholarly literature. 相似文献
