A Model of Translations

This paper attempts to model translations from one language intoanother. Book markets are an integral part of the cultural life of anation, and new ideas on political, social and cultural aspects arespread by means of books. It is a fact, however, that linguisticbarriers will often prevent a book from reaching a mass audience unlessit is translated. But the mechanism involved in translations has notbeen adequately described. A model is presented here in three steps: Thefirst step is to determine the number of new books in an economy. Thenext step is to determine the propensity to import translated works fromother countries. The final step is to determine from which language thetranslation will originate. The Concept of Inclusive Education: Teacher Training and Acquisition of English Language in the Hearing Impaired

Three languages are widely used in schools in Kenya – English, Kiswahili and Kenya Sign Language. Many pupils with hearing impairments are taught separately from the mainstream, in specialist settings. The fact that most of the formal teaching, assessment and examination processes in Kenyan schools rely upon spoken and written English compounds the separation of these pupils from the mainstream of education and, potentially, from the mainstream of society. In this article, Gertrude Wamae, graduate assistant in the Department of English and Linguistics at Kenyatta University, and Rachael Kang'ethe-Kamau, lecturer in the Department of Special Education at Kenyatta University, discuss the relationships between language, hearing impairment and inclusion in the Kenyan context. The article suggests that the use of signed exact English would enhance opportunities for inclusion for those with hearing impairments and that programmes of teacher training need to take account of persuasive research in this area. The article closes with a plea for further research, carried out collaboratively by educationalists, linguists, teacher trainers and practitioners, to develop policies and practices suited to more inclusive futures. 常用词搭配 (collocation)是指一些常用的用来表达某些事情或事物的短语 ,一般是二元组或三元组等。常用词搭配的自动发现在自然语言处理中起着很重要的作用 ,它能够丰富词典的容量 ,提高系统的性能。本文提出 4种判断一个二元组是否是常用词搭配的方法 ,并对各种方法的结果进行了比较。然后在已知二元组的基础上 ,提出了统计和发现三元或多元组的方法。这种利用二元组来构造三元组的方法 ,比统计所有三元组的计算量大大减少。实验证明这种方法的结果较好  相似文献
