The medical education literature is growing, and the result is not only greater knowledge, but an increasing complexity in locating quality evidence-based information. In 2008, eight librarians partnered with the Association of American Medical Colleges to research, conceptualize, and build an online module to develop medical educators’ search skills. Developing an online instructional module is a time-consuming, multi-stage process requiring the expertise of content, technical, and design specialists working in concert. Many lessons were learned, including the power of collaborative tools; the benefits of including specialists, such as graphic designers; the benefit of thoroughly surveying existing resources; and the importance of choosing technology wisely. 相似文献

Librarians at the Arnold Bernhard Library of Quinnipiac University were at a crossroads with electronic reference books. At first they had added the titles to the library's web page, generated records to individual titles in the online catalog, and even established links to their content using the link resolver in the online catalog. It was still felt that the collection was not living up to its potential. In 2007, the automation librarian began a project to add one more level of access to these titles – a graphic interface that simulated the process of walking into a reference room and picking out a title – all of this done with no programming beyond basic HTML. Early usage reports beginning in the Fall of 2007 prove that the concept has found an audience. 相似文献

Despite wide recognition of MOOCs, little is known about the lecturers’ perception and what are their needs before encouraging them to integrate MOOCs in their pedagogical practices. To gain such an understanding, this study conducted in-depth interviews probing Thai lecturers’ perception and paying special attention to their needs in designing their MOOCs. Strengths and challenges in integrating MOOCs were highlighted. The study proposed that for MOOCs to exert power in Thai institutions, it might be necessary for Thai institutions to introduce systematic and effective workshops for lecturers to acquire the skills and confidence to design their MOOCs. 相似文献

Agency group work has increased, but opportunities for social work group practice in educational settings have not kept pace. One option in response is technology-based learning, and students appear to have positive perceptions of online group project work. Online courses appear to have outcomes comparable to those that occur with in-person groups but require careful monitoring of group processes and group-based technologies. This paper attempts to explore the effectiveness of UK universities' websites. The area of branding in higher education has received increasing academic investigation, but little work has researched how universities demonstrate their brand promises through their websites. The quest to differentiate through branding can be challenging in the university context, however. It is argued that those institutions that have a strong distinctive image will be in a better position to face a changing future. Employing a multistage methodology, the web pages of 20 UK universities were investigated by using a combination of content and multivariable analysis. Results indicated ‘traditional values’ such as teaching and research were often well communicated in terms of online brand but ‘emotional values’ like social responsibility and the universities' environments were less consistently communicated, despite their increased topicality. It is therefore suggested that emotional values may offer a basis for possible future online differentiation. 相似文献

大规模在线教育在近两年取得突破性进展,已成为传统教育领域的颠覆性革新。MOOC在开放教育资源运动中发端,在连通主义学习理论中兴起,在行为主义学习理论中繁荣。与传统课程相比,MOOC具有以下典型特征:一是高校、教师、学生与投入等方面的规模化;二是学习对象、教学形式、课程内容、教育理念等方面的开放性;三是随时随地、主动学习、数据挖掘等方面的网络化;四是课程的组织方式、课程内容、学习方式、课程评价等方面的创新性。 相似文献

E-learning、网络教育和开放教育资源(OER)是当前高校教学信息化在实践层面的重要表现,也是高校应对时代发展挑战的不同形态。鉴于顶尖高校具有的引领作用和重要影响,从高校应对时代发展挑战的视角,对中美顶尖高校E-learning、网络教育和OER的开展概况进行调查和比较。研究发现,中美顶尖高校在E-learning开展成熟度、网络教育开展层次、OER推动模式等方面存在较大差异。基于比较分析,为我国高校E-learning、网络教育和OER的进一步发展提出建议。 相似文献
