The rhetorical construction of Popular Front France in the fascist Italian press during the ‘Paris, 1937’ international exhibition

This article will discuss propaganda in the press used by the Italian fascist regime to create and disseminate a negative image of France and socialism. The ‘Paris, 1937’ exhibition represented a pretext for the Italian press to attack the Popular Front on both policy and competence. Manipulating information, the propaganda fabricated an idea of ‘otherness’, presenting France as the chaotic antithesis to the orderly Italian regime. France was presented as a country full of drunks and idlers, as a nation descending into chaos due to the social economic reforms of the Blum government; images that were juxtaposed with a state thriving under fascist corporatism. With the use of archive files and press-clippings, this work intends to illustrate the construction of stereotypes to feed the fear of socialism in Italy by the fascist press.  相似文献

本文以奉节县的27个乡镇为研究区,运用景观生态学理论、地理信息系统和统计分析方法,借助Erdas8.5、ArcGIS9.3以及Fragstats3.3软件,分析了三峡库区腹地奉节县27个乡镇2010年耕地压力空间分布规律,讨论了耕地压力与土壤侵蚀的关系及优化调控措施。结果表明:①研究区耕地受其自然地理条件的影响,在不同岩性、地貌、坡度上分布差异显著;②耕地压力空间差异较显著,长江以北大部分乡镇耕地压力指数小于1,而南部乡镇耕地压力指数基本上大于1.5。根据耕地压力指数偏离1的程度且经校正将研究区分为4类区,包括无压区、边缘区、低压区和高压区;③由于北部地区开垦了大量的坡耕地,缓解了耕地压力,使得北部地区耕地压力比南部地区小,但土壤侵蚀综合指数较南部地区大,即生态破坏较严重。因此,通过大量开垦坡耕地来缓解耕地压力虽能暂时起到作用,但是从长远来看会加快耕地水土流失的速度,最终会大大增加耕地压力;④缓解研究区耕地压力、维护生态平衡要结合城镇化进程,促使人口向非农产业转移,通过异地供给方式解决粮食问题,降低粮食自给率;在推行生态退耕的同时也要保护好现有中、优等别耕地;调整农业结构,形成以种植粮食作物为基础,畜牧业、林果业、药业为主导的农业结构。  相似文献

Arthur Sutherland Neill is one of the most debated personalities among the representatives of the classic reform pedagogy, due to his pedagogical concept and its practical realization, and his Summerhill School, equally. He is often mentioned during public debates, where mostly the ＂three S＂--＂sex, swearing and smoking＂, are existing as subject of the debates. While analyzing publications about Summerhill School appearing in Hungarian and German pedagogical special literature and press, a kind of polarized attitude has been realized towards the conceptions and school： Some talk about him admiringly; others criticize him while emphasizing the concept＇s drawbacks and unique features.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper aims to explore the changes in creative activities of young people – especially in the alternative media – in Indonesia before and after Reformasi. It begins with the story of the dynamics of a student press, from my personal experience – which I believe is a typical form of student/youth movement in Indonesia – and how the student’s life obviously depends on the political situation, the university policy, and the dynamics of the student’s life at that particular time. Reformasi caused political change and freedom but simultaneously, and ironically, placed the student press in a state of meaninglessness, such that it was painfully forced for search for new meanings to keep it contextually relevant in the new era. I end the paper describing the latest form of the alternative media scene of Indonesian youth, whose focus is dramatically shifting from ‘big’ political issues to issues of the celebration of communities and self‐existence.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

This study examines the coverage of Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union and its successor states by U.S. journals indexed in Library Literature between 1990 and 2000. Seventy-one journals were evaluated according to subject content, geographical coverage, document type, and year of article publication. The study found that the majority of articles focused on domestic and foreign library activities. Coverage peaked between the years 1990 and 1994, with a steady decline after that. The study reports on differences in coverage by peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed journals over this decade.  相似文献

By 1789 the French Enlightenment had alreadyestablished that the rights of citizensincluded the right to speak, write, and printfreely. This right has since been enshrined invarious national and international documents,but remains elusive in much of the world. Oneway to consider these freedoms is to look notjust across the world comparing nations thathave or don't have freedom, but back throughtime at the first effort to promulgate thesenew rights – the French Revolution. When theFrench Revolution created freedom of the pressin 1789, the French book publishing industrywas noted for five attributes: completecensorship of all publications, a rigidlyenforced printing monopoly, copyrightprotection for all authors, fossilized content,and the proliferation of illegal presses. Digital technology is enabling a second dawn ofpress freedoms, but the five problems found inFrance two centuries ago can still be seen invarious forms, especially in the massivemonopoly of book publishing by a few countries. The answers created by France in 1810 present apartial basis for how current governments couldrespond to contemporary problems with freedomof the press. Now You See Me – Now You Don't: Journalists’ Experiences With Surveillance

If democracy is a platform for many voices, and the voices of the many, journalists serve democracy by bringing these voices to the forefront of governance by asking difficult questions to those in power. It can be argued that journalists engage in the broader form of surveillance of power from below, or sousveillance [Mann, Steve, and Joseph Ferenbok. 2013. “New media and the power politics of sousveillance in a surveillance-dominated world.” Surveillance and Society 11 (1-2): 18–34.], which aims towards a form of relative equilibrium. In democracies, the institutional system of checks and balances forms the basis on which journalism pursues its watchdog function. This paper explores the experiences of journalists with surveillance and their impact on journalists’ sense of freedom to fulfil their watchdog role. The paper contributes to increasing research interest in “journalism after Snowden” by addressing the intangible conditions under which journalists may or should work, and ultimately also how widely accepted standards of democratic liberties are challenged.  相似文献

当前藏书建设中存在的高比例误选黑洞及对策——以计算机类图书为例

我国高校图书馆图书误选的比例很高,已经形成可怕的误选黑洞。根据2002—2005年出版的计算机类图书数据测定出核心书目并对照5所综合性大学图书馆的馆藏发现,高校图书馆缺藏现象和零外借率现象十分严重,由此可推断目前高校图书馆存在计算机类图书的高比例误选黑洞。针对这些问题,高校图书馆可以采取分析核心出版社的出版强项、研究好书的形成要素、推动书商编制高质量的征订书目等策略。  相似文献   

论马克思实践自由中的新闻出版自由思想及其意义

所谓实践自由,顾名思义,就是人在实践经验活动中要求实现作为人的本性的先验自由。具体来说,它包括两个方面的内容：作为实践自由的形式方面的先验自由和作为其内容方面的经验自由。前者指虽然人受自然因的限制,但其意志仍然具有一种独立自主地开启一个因果序列的本性和能力,它是人之所思所做的无原因的原因,即自由因;后者指先验的意志自由在经验世界中的外化和实现。马克思的实践自由之新闻出版自由是二者的一个统一体。这一实践自由尤其蕴涵在马克思关于新闻出版自由的三个文献中,三个文献无不彰显和放射着新闻出版自由的重大现实意义。  相似文献
