African American Vernacular English (AAVE), though often stamped with a degraded mark, carries a tremendous power in shaping American culture. AAVE, the headspring of black culture, has been given much research attention by linguists and sociologists. This paper analyzes the important features of AAVE on both levels of social situations and linguistics. It advocates that as a well-established English variety, AAVE with its unique linguistic framework and abundant cultural elements holds a significant place in the study of the evolution of America’s multi-cultural society. 相似文献
