English euphemism is a rather polite and appropriate language expressions used for the avoidance of taboo and inappropriate language.Politeness Principle is an important Pragmatic theorywhich is a remedy of the Cooperative Principle,their existence can make communication and talking between people proceed as expected,euphemism is a typical application of these two principles in practical context.In this essay,euphemism and the Politeness Principle are combined under the background of practical use of euphemism,the effect of the melting of euphemism with Politeness Principleare explained in Pragmatics in order to illustratethat euphemism bears a close relationship with pragmatics.The conclusion is that there exist elements of politeness in euphemism. 相似文献
