Abstract

Kindergarten boys (N = 12) played in three pieces of nonmoving equipment: wooden pilings, horizontal bars, and a geodesic dome. Movement was measured by use of the spatial dimensions of range, direction, and level and by bases of support as the body factor to determine which piece produced the greatest variety in each dimension and in bases of support. Photographic slides of the 12 subjects, in groups of four, were taken simultaneously by four Nikon motorized F-36 cameras at 5-sec intervals while they moved on the equipment. A flatbed coordinate digitizer plotted the movements of the body parts from raw images into an accurate two-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system. Computer programs transformed data into a three-dimensional system from which measurements were taken. Data was analyzed by using a three-factor repeated measure ANOVA, binomial proportions tests, Scheffes' tests, Kendall correlation, Wilcoxin T, and chi square. Results were significant at the .05 level and above. The bars elicited the greatest amount of range of movement. The pilings stimulated the most right, left, up, and down directional moves. The dome promoted more movement at a high level. Bases of support utilized were independent of the pieces of equipment used. This study provided evidence that a framework for analyzing movement utilizing Laban's spatial dimensions and the body factor of bases of support is appropriate. It also provided a photographic technique and computer programs to analyze movement in three dimensions.  相似文献

The Educational Technology Certificate (ETC.) courses at Michigan State University are a set of three courses that can be taken as a standalone qualification or as the first three courses in the Master’s of Educational Technology degree. Together, the courses emphasize the development of technology skills and advanced mindsets for technology integration in the classroom. In this article, we provide examples of our approach to the teaching of technology skills and mindsets in ways that are adaptable across four distinct modes of instruction (online, hybrid, overseas and faceto-face). We also present student feedback and survey data that inform a critical evaluation of the program’s effectiveness. Findings suggest that the certificate courses help students to gain technological skills, to become more confident users of technology and more likely to help colleagues with tech-related questions. Interestingly, respondents also reported feeling like better teachers, in general, after taking these courses.  相似文献

Abstract

The effects of breathing 100% oxygen on resting, exercise, and recovery oxygen consumptions, pulmonary ventilation volumes, and heart rates were observed on six highly conditioned male athletes. The subjects rode a bicycle ergometer at a heavy work load for five minutes, breathing either normal air or medical oxygen. Ventilation volumes were determined by the open-circuit Douglas bag method, measuring inspired and expired volumes. Gas samples were analyzed for nitrogen and oxygen concentrations on Van Slyke and Beckman gas analyzers, and heart rates were recorded via a telemetry-electrocardiograph system. The results indicated a substantial increase in resting oxygen consumption, a decrease in resting ventilation volume, a marked decline in exercise and recovery ventilation volumes, and an insignificant lowering of the energy cost of exercise during the oxygen experiments. No appreciable differences were noted in heart rates between the oxygen and air experiments.  相似文献
