Assessment in the form of a large project and field- and laboratory work was shown to be successful when applied to a course in snow engineering for university students with various backgrounds. The course was interdisciplinary, with teachers representing three different engineering disciplines. The project work was assessed by a report, a short oral presentation and an optional presentation such as a home page, a poster or a physical model. The students experienced that they had learned more with this assessment strategy than from courses with a final written exam. Peer evaluation of the relative contributions to the project work was applied and was appreciated by the students. The experiences of practical engineering tasks during the project work were also appreciated.  相似文献

A complete coverage of the course content does not lead the student to explorative curiosity and to a scientific attitude to knowledge and learning. Interactive hypermedia use will lead to an epistemological quality raising since in that way students’ independence in planning, knowledge acquisition and problem solving might be facilitated and since at the same time tutorial supervision and guidance can be included. Hypermedia have possibilities to provide students with large quantities of information. With network interfacing learning can take place independent of time and place and individualized education will be possible. Combined with CMC (computer mediated communication) and educational software the student has a tool for life-long education within the classroom. At the Växjö University text, images and simulations have been integrated within a hypertext system: Hyperbook (for Macintosh). At the Royal Institute of Technology we develop this concept to use it with computer-based self-study material in mechanics, a project which started in autumn 1990 using HyperCard. At the University of Lund a development of hypertext material in the form of computer illustrated text for a thermodynamics textbook has just started. An example of limits of models will be demonstrated by a computer simulation of a linearized and a non-linearized pendulum.  相似文献

This paper surveys some general issues related to simulation. Random number generation and the simulation of specific probability distributions are discussed. It is shown how statistical methods, especially graphical ones, can be used to analyze data from simulation experiments and to plan such experiments. Finally, the paper discusses how antithetic variables can be used in variance reduction. Throughout the paper the use of computers is considered.  相似文献

Engineering education must be based on technical and scientific development. It is therefore important that engineering education involves close contact between universities and industry. It is equally important that the links between engineering education and research carried out in the universities and in industry are also close. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG

It is suggested that reliability theory should be treated in engineering education in a separate course, compulsory or elective. Course content of such a course is given with commentaries on a selected number of items in the course. The importance of computer software is mentioned. The paper ends with a presentation of literature in the area of reliability theory.

Es wird vorgeschlagen, dass Zuverlässigkeiistheorie an technischen Universitäten in einem Spezialkurs, auf obligatorischer oder fakultativer Basis, gelehrt wird. Im folgenden wird der Kursinhalt beschrieben und einige ausgewahlte Aspekte davon spegiell kommentiert. Die Wichtigkeit von Komputer-Software wird hervorgehoben. Die Arbeit schliesst mit einem Literaturverzeicknis des Gebietes der Zuverlassigkeiistheorie.  相似文献
