In this paper four scenarios are presented which illustrate possible futures of teacher education in Europe. These scenarios are the result of a project of Research and Development Centre 19 of the Association for Teacher Education in Europe. 1 The four scenarios differ from each other in their emphasis on four driving forces: pragmatism, idealism, individualism and social coherence. Each scenario is described in terms of characteristics of society, education and teacher education, roles of teachers and teacher educators, and is illustrated in a short scene.  相似文献

In Europe the educational system is under constant revision. Based on the changes in society, education and teacher education are forced to adapt themselves to changing circumstances. Often these changes are lagging behind the changes outside schools and are motivated by the problems of today or yesterday. Forward-thinking strategies are hardly developed in education. Scenarios are powerful tools to create new perspectives on the future of (teacher) education, stimulating reflection, creativity and imagination. Scenarios can be helpful both for deciding on institutional or (inter)national policies on teacher education and for facilitating individual learning processes of teacher educators and organisational learning processes. From this point of view scenarios are not a goal in themselves, but by-products of a learning process. A methodology is presented for the development of scenarios, as used by the ATEE-RDC19.  相似文献

The survey reported in the present article demonstrates the job-analysis technique for evaluating and updating syllabuses. The survey examined the correspondence between the training syllabus of BTech and practical engineers in the area of biotechnology and the demands of industrial plants and the economy, similarities and dissimilarities in job definition and assignments, and job demands in the present and future and their implications for training syllabuses. The survey findings are based on 37 questionnaires completed by directors and engineers in 13 industrial plants. In general, the job of the practical engineer was perceived in terms of the production-floor level with importance attached to skills such as competence in running and maintaining equipment, conducting experiments according to a preset protocol, and personal characteristics such as technical skill and precision. The main expectations of BTech engineers were the capacity for originality and initiative, comprehension and analysis, precision, oral and written articulacy, and teamwork. The findings also suggest that most of the subject areas in the syllabuses evaluated are important both for the practical and for the BTech engineers.  相似文献

In The Netherlands, developments in teacher education are dominated by three issues. Stimulated by a severe shortage of teachers, teacher education is changing towards competence-based teacher education, work-based teacher education and market-oriented teacher education. These developments lead to a dynamic situation in teacher education, where the traditional presuppositions of the curriculum and teacher education itself are questioned. To many teacher educators, the number of changes and new approaches is rather confusing. To make sense out of the turbulent developments, the Dutch association for teacher education VELON started a scenario project in which four scenarios for the future of teacher education in The Netherlands emerge. These scenarios are structured by two variables: the freedom of schools to define the type of teacher education they want and the freedom of students in taking responsibility for their own learning process. Compared to the ATEE-RDC19 scenarios (ATEE-RDC19, 2003) the axis pragmatism-idealism is missing, since each of the VELON scenarios can be motivated both from a pragmatic and an idealistic point of view.  相似文献

In the preceding papers the scenario model of ATEE-RDC19 is used as a reflecting instrument on trends and development in teacher education in different European countries. In this short contribution, a reflection on those papers is made to see whether common trends arise. In this rough picture, it is possible to see that in all analysed countries there is a tendency towards a more pragmatic and individualistic approach in society, influencing teacher education. But these two trends (toward pragmatism and towards idealism) are not in all case studies strongly connected. However, bearing in mind some critical comments on the scenario model, strong and definitive conclusions are to be avoided.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to compare nine school effectiveness indices computed by five different methods from longitudinal data. The data consisted of Total Reading scores from the Metropolitan Primary II Achievement Test administered to third-graders in 70 elementary schools. The various school effectiveness indices differed somewhat from one another and had different correlational patterns with other variables. Further, most of the school effectiveness indices were highly stable across samples. The methods should be tried out in schools of reputed quality, so that the validities of the various indices can be studied. The stabilities of the various school effectiveness indices over time should also be studied.  相似文献
