Abstract Supporting global health priorities through the development of robust health science librarianship partnerships is of significant importance. Increased demand for synthesizing evidence-based information, collating quality resources, and increasing research productivity to improve human health requires integration of library and information science skills and expertise. The Health Sciences Library (HSL) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), exists to be an indispensable partner in health information and knowledge, teaching and learning, and research. As global efforts at UNC expanded, the HSL sought to ensure that our global engagement strategy and integration were aligned with campus priorities and partner needs. The HSL created a global research partnership plan: identify resources that improve efficiency, increase access to information, build in-country capacity and expertise—all while strengthening collaborations across multiple countries. Creating a meaningful and sustainable engagement strategy was central to envisioning our path forward and can be used as a framework for consideration by librarians in similar settings. 相似文献

AbstractIn an economic climate when colleges can no longer presume that legislators see institutions of higher learning as tacit public goods, institutions around the country are facing budget cuts. This article presents a case study of the experience of a mid-sized public state university and its Library in a budget crisis undergoing a university-wide program prioritization process. The authors review the process of writing three reports on the Library’s value, along with the approach to engaging staff in the process including a retreat. Abstract. A multiple baseline design was employed to test the effect of manipulative instruction on the perimeter and area problem‐solving performance of middle and high school students who had been diagnosed with LD in the area of mathematics. Modeling, prompting/guided practice, and independent practice in conjunction with manipulative training were employed to teach both perimeter and area problem‐solving skills. Analysis of data revealed that the students rapidly acquired the problem‐solving‐skills, maintained these skills over a two‐month period, and transferred these skills to a paper and pencil problem‐solving format. This research extends previous findings by revealing that use of concrete manipulatives promotes the long‐term maintenance of skills. 相似文献

There is an increasing interest in linking character education programs with social and academic outcomes. The Child Development
Project (CDP) is a character education program that promotes academic and social growth in teachers and students. This theory-driven
evaluation employed a quasi-experimental design with matched control schools. School personnel participated in an intensive
professional development process to learn the CDP model. Performance measures included state-mandated achievement measures,
teacher self-assessment reports, and student attitudes and outcomes. Results yielded support for the CDP model as a strategy
to improve social and, if properly implemented, cognitive outcomes in students; the model also improved teacher self-assessment
and provided information that may facilitate professional growth about school collegiality. Implications for policy and practice

随着社会和高等教育形势的快速发展,高等职业技术教育成为高等教育的一部分,已成为当前社会关注的一个热点。高职学院要能适应高等教育的要求,适应新的办学模式,全面提高教学质量和办学水平,关键是拥有一支与人才培养目标相一致的数量、质量合格的教师队伍。而目前高职学院体育师资队伍的现状,与高等教育的要求及全面推进学校体育工作深化改革的目标,尚存有较大的差距。因此要针对现状,在加强教师政治思想、德育教育,优化教师知识结构,优化师资队伍结构,提高教学科研能力、水平等几个主要方面,采取积极有效的措施;加强队伍建设,全面提高体育教师的整体素质水平,尽快适应高等教育发展的需要及高校体育教学改革、科学研究的要求。 相似文献

Quantum algorithms are a field of growing interest within the theoretical computer science as
well as the physics community. Surprisingly, although the number of researchers working on the subject
is ever-increasing, the number of quantum algorithms found so far is quite small. In fact, the task of
designing new quantum algorithms has been proven to be extremely difficult. In this paper we give an overview
of the known quantum algorithms and briefly describe the underlying ideas. Roughly, the algorithms presented
are divided into hidden subgroup type algorithms and in amplitude amplification type algorithms. While
the former deal with problems of group-theoretical nature and have the promise to yield strong separations
of classical and quantum algorithms, the latter have been proved to be a prolific source of algorithms
in which a polynomial speed-up as compared to classical algorithms can be achieved. We also discuss
quantum algorithms which do not fall under these two categories and give a survey of techniques of
general interest in quantum computing such as adiabatic computing, lower bounds for quantum algorithms,
