We examined the implementation of a laser-disk based science curriculum in an elementary school. The goal was to develop a richer understanding of the principles for designing a curriculum that will adequately support teachers in adopting a learner-centered framework. Issues included: who has ownership of the classroom discussion; what types of activities are engaged in terms of the constraints imposed; and what is the teacher's response to the specific tools provided (the teacher's guide, the Circle of Learning, and concept maps). In addition to looking at the implementation pattern, we also examined the impact of the implementation on student attitudes and anxiety toward science. Results indicated little adoption of the curriculum, and teachers continued to maintain a high degree of control in the classroom. However, results also indicated significant effects of the curriculum on science attitude and anxiety. Suggestions for future research are included. 相似文献
Purpose: This paper explores the intersections between community development and youth development in an initiative that mobilized farmers’ children as Rice Crop Manager (RCM) infomediaries (information mediators). RCM is an ICT-enabled nutrient management application.
Design/Methodology/Approach: The study engaged 30 farmers’ children in high school level from the provinces of Pangasinan, Isabela, Camarines Sur, Iloilo, Bukidnon, and Davao del Norte from November 2016 to October 2017. They interacted with the research team (the authors) and the RCM-SMS platform that sends text messages regarding fertilizer recommendations. A staff member from the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) also called the students for some follow-up questions. The research team conducted three rounds of interviews with the students concerning the messages and calls that they received and what they did with the information.
Findings: This study finds that farmers’ children can perform infomediary roles quite effectively. Academically excellent children and those involved in farm work performed best.
Practical Implications: The study provides guidance on similar initiatives tapping young people in agricultural development.
Theoretical Implications: This paper finds that while Community Youth Development (CYD) Theory provides a powerful lens in understanding community and youth development intersections, some identified outcomes may overlap and may not be very easy to observe. Hence, the identified outcomes may be revisited for clarity and to make them more all-encompassing.
Originality/Value: The paper documents actual parent-child interaction when the latter is mobilized to serve as an infomediary to access nutrient management-related information on rice. 相似文献
Summary The goal of this article has been to discuss next generation learning environments and next generation training technologies
as well as the learning and design challenges faced in using these. Specifically, we discuss theoretical and design principles
of constructivist learning environments and how advanced technologies can potentially support meeting these principles as
well as the challenges they may pose to various types of designers, instructional, game, graphic and programming. To address
methods for designing complex environments, we also address the use of methodologies and authoring systems with various tools
to support the design process. In this context, to illustrate how tools can be used to help instructional design teams manage
the complexities of developing for these environments. As an example, we discuss one tool,IIPI CREATE, that supports this process and organizes the development process 相似文献

Conclusion Since performing this testing in 2003, there have already been great advancements in computer technologies. For example, OQO
has developed a new computer that is as powerful as the Tablet PC that we used and as small as a PDA (http://www.oqo.com).
It has a retractable tactile keyboard that would facilitate use by low vision users and has built in 802.11b wireless and
Bluetooth capability. It also has a shock mounted hard drive to protect against accidental drops. Still the cost of this device
may be prohibitive for many small museums to loan freely to patrons visiting their museum. There have also been great advancements
in cellular technology. It is now common for cell phones to have the ability to access the Internet. Many have built-in cameras
and others have been combined with PDAs. It is quite likely that in the next few years these devices may provide the ideal
platform for achieving the aims of this research. By designing software to deliver content to such devices, the museums would
be free of the cost of purchasing mobile computing devices for patrons to use. Museums wishing to support the diverse information
needs of their patrons would simply develop the digital content that could be delivered to these mobile devices. Furthermore,
this information could serve multiple purposes such as electronically documenting the museum’s collection and populating the
museums Web site with a rich set of content that could be used to attract visitors to their museum, while at the same time
increasing the accessibility of their online presence 相似文献
