University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Library analyzed 4,567 interlibrary loan borrowing requests for articles and other non-returnables. From 2017–2018, nearly 44% of requests were for items that the library owned electronically. Patrons could have accessed the full-text immediately but submitted interlibrary loan requests instead. This prevalence raises questions about user behavior and deficiencies in discovery tools. 相似文献

Retrenchment practices in the 1980s represented a new challenge to institutions of higher education. The literature encompassing higher education within the past 10 years has revealed limited information concerning retrenchment policies in public community colleges in Texas. This study investigated the presence or absence of retrenchment policies and their relation to fluctuations in enrollment and state funding. All 49 public community‐junior college districts in the state of Texas were included in the study. Twenty (41%) of these community colleges had a retrenchment policy. This study indicated that administrative decisions regarding the development and adoption of retrenchment policies are based on state revenue declines as opposed to enrollment fluctuations. 相似文献

Learning to discriminate stimuli can alter how one distinguishes related stimuli. For instance, training an individual to
differentiate between two stimuli along a single dimension can alter how that individual generalizes learned responses. In
this study, we examined the persistence of shifts in generalization gradients after training with sounds. University students
were trained to differentiate two sounds that varied along a complex acoustic dimension. The students were subsequently tested
on their ability to recognize a sound that they had experienced during training when it was presented among several novel
sounds varying along this same dimension. Peak shift was observed in Experiment 1, in which generalization tests immediately
followed training, and in Experiment 2, in which the tests were delayed by 24 h. These findings further support the universality
of generalization processes across species, modalities, and levels of stimulus complexity. They also raise new questions about
the mechanisms underlying learning-related shifts in generalization gradients. The sound stimuli from this study are available
as .wav files from http://lb.psychonomic-journals.org/content/supplemental. 相似文献
