Our study investigates perspectives of mathematics teacher educators related to the usage of their mathematical knowledge
in teaching “Methods of Teaching Elementary Mathematics” courses. Five mathematics teacher educators, all with experience
in teaching methods courses for prospective elementary school teachers, participated in this study. In a clinical interview
setting, the participants described where and how, in their teaching of elementary methods courses, they had an opportunity
to use their advanced mathematical knowledge and provided examples of such opportunities or situations. We outline five apparently
different viewpoints and then turn to the similar concerns that were expressed by the participants. In conclusion, we connect
the individual perspectives by situating them in the context of unifying themes, both theoretical and practical. 相似文献

A pulse compressor is utilized in many aspects of signal processing. Compression is usually accomplished by using special matched-filter-signal pairs. An alternative method takes advantage of the fact that any linear dynamic system can be excited to produce a time-limited output. Accordingly for a given dynamic system a synthesis procedure is provided for stepwise-constant input pulses evoking a time-limited response. Pairing the signal and system carefully leads to pulse compression. The Doppler invariant pulse compression is an important special case. Many examples are given. 相似文献

AbstractWith more investigation into the reception of evolution in non-Christian majority cultures, and the increased awareness that anti-evolution sentiment is a global phenomenon, new educational resources are being developed to meet newly understood needs. This article explores the situation in Israel regarding conceptions of the compatibility of evolution and religion, as well as the educational initiatives being developed to advance dialogue. Included in the article are data from a study in a Jewish, Muslim and Christian school regarding stakeholders’ views on evolution, as well as insights from the first professional development course for Israeli teachers on “Evolution and Faith.” 相似文献

Based on a sample of 448 projects, the interactions between three project planning variables, the quality of planning, goal changes, plan-changes and project success are analyzed. The most important results of this study are the interactions between the planning variables and their influences on project success. By using structural equation modeling, we gained insight into these complex indirect relationships. The results clearly show that the positive total effect of the quality of planning is almost completely overridden by the negative effect of goal changes. If we add the total effects of goal changes and plan-changes on project success, their combined effect is considerably stronger than that of the quality of planning. The study also identifies several contextual variables affecting the planning process. 相似文献

Of concern here are properties of linear networks that contain switches. It is shown that transfer functions can be identified with these networks through the use of a mathematical device called the advance operator. Project-based learning (PBL) facilitates significant learning, but it poses a major assessment challenge for assessing individual content knowledge. We developed and implemented an assessment approach and tool for a mandatory undergraduate systems engineering PBL-based course. We call this type of assessment student-oriented meta-assessment. Research participants included 131 undergraduate engineering students who carried out team projects requiring conceptual modelling of complex systems. Next, individual students assessed their peer team projects. Finally, the course staff assessed students individually, based on the content knowledge that was reflected in students’ comments to their peers, by using the new meta-assessment tool. The research findings validated the meta-assessment tool which can serve for assessing various PBL courses. Our contribution is twofold: a new approach for assessing project-based undergraduate engineering courses, and classification of meta-assessment methods into three types, where a student-oriented meta-assessment as one of the three meta-assessment methods is our newly introduced and validated method. 相似文献
