348 patients of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD) were studied for their acid base profile using ABL-3 blood gas analyser (Radiometer, copenhagan). 185 patients (53.1%) had simple disorders (respiratory acidosis—53%, respiratory alkalosis—25.4%, metabolic acidosis—11.3%, metabolic alkalosis—10.2%). Mixed disorders were present in 131 patients (34.9%) (respiratory acidosis and metabolic acidosis—75.2%, respiratory acidosis and metabolic acidosis—14%, metabolic acidosis and metabolic alkalosis—5.7%, metabolic alkalosis and respiratory alkalosis—4.9%). Hypoxemia without other acid base abnormalities was observed in early patients of GOPD (42 patients—12%). Chronic respiratory acidosis was the most common finding in advanced cases of COPD (98%). An almost equal number of such patients had a mixed disorder of respiratory acidosis with metabolic alkalosis (91%). Salt restriction, prolonged use of steriods and hypokalemia were often related to metabolic alkalosis in such patients.  相似文献

1960-2014年北京户外感知温度变化特征及其敏感性分析   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
基于通用热气候指数(UTCI),本文分析了北京1960-2014年户外感知温度变化特征,并采用敏感性分析方法定量分析了驱动UTCI变化的主导因素。结果表明:①研究时段内,北京年均人体感知温度为9.2℃,人体整体感觉为舒适,并表现出显著的上升趋势,变化速率为0.52℃/10a;②在年际变化上,全年UTCI大致可以分为3个时期:1960-1970年持续下降期,1971-1990年持续上升期,1991-2014年平稳波动期;③在季节变化上,春季和秋季人体感觉为舒适,夏季为中度热胁迫,冬季为中度冷胁迫,且以春冬增幅最为显著;④在等级变化上,极端冷胁迫日数在减少,中度冷胁迫和热胁迫日数在增加,人体感觉整体趋于热不舒适;⑤在影响因素上,北京UTCI变化对气温最为敏感,其次是风速,但是不同季节中气候因子组合存在差异,不同气候因子在不同季节贡献量亦存在差异。  相似文献

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry, 2012 has been awarded to Robert J Lefkowitz and Brian K Kobilka for their studies on G-Protein Coupled Receptors (GPCRs). GPCRs are receptor proteins present on the cell surface, which are involved in sensing molecules outside the cell and initiating a cellular response. They can sense a wide variety of ligands ranging from light to hormones and small peptides, triggering various physiological responses. Today we understand the molecular mechanisms by which these receptors work largely due to the contributions of Lefkowitz and Kobilka. Owing to the role of GPCRs in cell communication and involvement in various disease conditions, they are targets of over 40% of current drugs in the market. These findings have not only revealed how GPCRs work, but have also made a huge impact on the field of GPCR-associated drug discovery.  相似文献

Glutathione-5-transferase (GST) and glutathione (GSH) levels were estimated in the lungs of 3 and 30 months old rats. GST activity was found to be significantly reduced in the old rats (30 months age) compared to the young rats (3 months age). In old rats, with methionine supplementation GST activity was increased whereas with vitamin C supplementation GSH levels were increased. The data show that the supplementation of methionine as well as of vitamin C have beneficial effect on the scavenging system and protect lungs against the free radical damage during ageing.  相似文献

Blood glucose levels were determined in normal, glucose loaded (hyperglycaemic) and diabetic rats after oral administration of some of the Caraway species and allied seeds (Cuminum Cyminum, Carum bulbocastanum, Carum Carvi, Trachyspermum ammi, and Cuminum nigrum). The data showed that the aqueous suspension of Carum Carvi seeds caused a significant reduction in blood glucose level in normoglycaemic, hyperglycaemic as well as alloxanated diabetic rats. The, drug however, did not show any blood glucose lowering effect in streptozotocin treated rats. It is suggested that C. Carvi, seeds have some hypoglycaemic principle.  相似文献

Red blood cells (RBC) from iron-deficient chidren were found to have decreased levels of reduced glutathione and reduced content of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, glutathione peroxidase and glutathione reductase than RBC from normal control children. These findings suggest an increased oxidant stress on iron-deficient red cells which may be one of the mechanisms responsible for membrane alterations leading to shortened life span of erythrocytes in iron-deficiency anaemia.  相似文献

Hypoglycaemic effects of caraway seeds, and the aqueous extract, petroleum ether extract and methanolic extract of the defatted marc were studied on normoglycaemic as well as hyperglycaemic rats. Further the effect of caraway seeds was also studied on serum insulin level. A significant decrease in blood glucose with corresponding increase in insulin was observed with 3 g/kg of the seeds powder in normoglycaemic rats. It also improved glucose tolerance of the animal by increasing insulin secretion response to glucose load. The aqueous and methanolic extracts did not show any effect. The dose dependent decrease in blood glucose was observed with petroleum ether extract (caraway seed oil) in normoglycaemic rats. Moreover, the oil also improved glucose tolerance in the animal. The effects were similar to those observed with tolbutamide (0.5 g/kg) but of longer duration. It is suggested that the hypoglycaemic effect of caraway seeds is through pancreas and the active principle is in oily fraction only.  相似文献

In 150 healthy Indians, aged 10 months to 84 years, levels of total proteins. IgA, IgG and lysozyme in tears have been estimated to find age and sex, related variations. No sex related changes, were observed but levels increased significantly with advancing age upto 30 years, remained stationary between 31–45 years, and started declining thereafter, Immunoglobulin G was quantifable in 26% cases only. Furthermore, tear samples with high concentrations of total proteins had high level of IgA and lysozyme.  相似文献

Activities of antioxidant enzymes involved oxygen free radical metabolism in the liver and lung were investigated in 2,4, and 30 months old Wistar albino rats. The levels of SOD, GSH-Px, GSH and protein-SH were decreased whereas MDA increased, in the liver as well as the lung of the old rats (30 months old) compared to the young rats (2 and 4 months old). The data suggests that the failure of the free radical protective mechanism may be one of the important contributors to the process of ageing.  相似文献
