The paper presents a holistic view of educational leadership that is based on relational learning, collaboration, connectedness and commitment to self, to others and to community. The context of the study is a community high school where teacher-leaders are responsible for the governance, the daily administration and the teaching in the school. The interconnectedness of teaching, learning and leading are acknowledged by teacher-leaders whose work is based in an understanding that the intellectual, emotional, social, moral, spiritual and aesthetic dimensions of human beings are inextricably interconnected. The focus for school leaders is on working to co-create a learning environment which emphasizes authentic self-expression, the development of relationships, and the development of the whole person within the school, the local and global communities. Two major themes are used to explicate and discuss the enactment of these issues and to outline the boundaries and obstacles encountered in the realities of everyday practice. These themes are: (a) the development of an authentic voice and identity: supportive relationships, dialogue and shared governance; (b) learning from and with others: creating a culture of collaboration, connectedness and commitment to community. 相似文献

Nine case studies were conducted to evaluate the usefulness of a predictive text entry program within a classroom environment. The program, PAL, was found to be very successful in eight of the cases. For children with poor motor control, the key-saving aspects speeded up text creation. Of even greater significance was the extent to which children with severe spelling problems were helped. They were able to produce much higher quality written work with a substantial reduction in the number of spelling errors. This provided great motivation for the children, and teaching staff commented on their improved confidence and attention span, as well as stimulation of language and vocabulary development. The medical education literature is growing, and the result is not only greater knowledge, but an increasing complexity in locating quality evidence-based information. In 2008, eight librarians partnered with the Association of American Medical Colleges to research, conceptualize, and build an online module to develop medical educators’ search skills. Developing an online instructional module is a time-consuming, multi-stage process requiring the expertise of content, technical, and design specialists working in concert. Many lessons were learned, including the power of collaborative tools; the benefits of including specialists, such as graphic designers; the benefit of thoroughly surveying existing resources; and the importance of choosing technology wisely. 相似文献

The article reviews different views of creativity, building on the work of Czikszentmihaly. It offers a definition of creativity in terms of trait/process/product. The issue of how creativity might be assessed is explored using this definition and some illustrative examples are provided. The article concludes that creativity can and should be assessed but that this must be with an appropriate methodology. Such assessment is important not only for assessing students' work but also for evaluating curriculum content, in order to promote curriculum development in the teaching of creativity. 相似文献
